    It could be NSAI
    Nashville Songwriters Association
    Based on Music Row
    Causing your confusion
    They'll bring in a publisher
Play a verse and a chorus
But don't get your hopes up
    They'll reject you, of course

    Give Them Your Money
And They'll Tear Up Your Song
    Critique you to death
    Tell you what's wrong
    Mixed metaphors, old cliches
    No rhyme scheme at all
    Give Them Your Money
And They'll Tear Up Your Song

    Could be the Songwriters Guild
    Workshops in every town
    Just like NSAI
    They're gonna put you down
They'll show you a tip sheet
Now I'll give you a tip
    Give up this silly dream
    And find yourself a job

    Give Them Your Money
And They'll Tear Up Your Song
    Critique you to death
    Tell you what's wrong
    Mixed metaphors, old cliches
    No rhyme scheme at all
    Give Them Your Money
And They'll Tear Up Your Song

The difference between amateurs and pros
    Is that pros find people
Stupid enough to give them money

    Give Them Your Money
And They'll Tear Up Your Song
    Critique you to death
    Tell you what's wrong
    Mixed metaphors, old cliches
    No rhyme scheme at all
    Give Them Your Money
And They'll Tear Up Your Song

If you're an amateur lyricist, composer, or songwriter, nobody cares about the fruit of your labor, no matter how good it might be, except your family and friends. Personally, I do it to please ... myself.
