Here is a song that I wrote in honor of my dad.
Verse:
The Giving Tree
You gave to me
Taught me what it means
To give up everything
I was a child
One that was beguiled
And so you smiled
Until your final hour
Chorus:
This is my small salute to you
This is my small salute to you
Verse 2:
The memories
You shared with me
They remedy
And put my soul at ease
You made me laugh
When I was sad
This is a dad
A lesson that would last
Chorus 2:
This is my small salute to you
This is my small salute to you
This is the least that I could do
This is my small salute to you
Verse 3:
The Giving Tree
You gave to me
Taught me what it means
To love a family
Chorus 3:
I’ve learned to laugh because of you
I’ve learned to love because of you
I’ve learned to live because of you
And I will live without you

Nice writing. Great sentiment. I think it caught me most of all because it made me think of my dad. Good job. Lyrics are supposed to evoke an emotion. No matter which.

Thank you. Yeah, I wrote this in honor of my father. He died when I was young. This song means very much to me. I poured a lot of feeling into it, and the words seemed to write themselves.
