Tahira , "ta mavra matia sou" is from Manolis Aggelopoulos.I don't know the arab version, but the greek one is veeeeeeeeeery slow. I always thought belly dancing as something more fast than that. Most of the greek belly dancing songs are of arab or turkish origins, just the lyrics are greek
Hi Tzina,
yes ..Aggelopoulos ... you are right. Thiy guy also sings the other song (min feegis) !
Many people think of quick and fast movements - and entertainment when they hear belly dance. But when you dance to classical arabique music, you also have slow motions and you follow the music with your body. I have found a new version of "ta mavra matio sou", it´s instrumental and danced by souhaila salimpour an american dancer with arabic background; she is dancing for all her life and is highly recommended as teacher and dancer.
