This song is about war.. about civil war rather than a war between two countries.. think about the fashists, right-wind, left-wing nonsense... its a political song!! I hope my translation makes sense!!

yes i think so too, thats why i think its better if you translate "ne sehit ne kahramanlar" not by they were heroes, cause thats not how people saw them in that time, they were even called traitors..
we also cant call them heroes, they did something honourable by protesting against fashism, but however it was not worth to die for! and its really said how it happened

but of course i understand that you see them as heroes..

ps. it is said that this song is written in memory of Sinan Süner and Erdal Eren

Sinan, a student, was killed in 1980 by a bullet coming from the bodyguard of an "nationalistic" minister

Erdal was protesting this but got caught. he was accused of killing a soldier, and they hang him. he was only 16 and it was against the law to give death penalty under 18..

also erdal eren didnt kill him as "the people who hang him up knows...they made his age 16 up to 18 to kill him..what a world!
