Default Η Γκαρσόνα from haris alexiou, english translation please

the only thing i understood from this song is its first sentence but i guess its something about a waitress, like "i m a waitress, i do this, i make that" etc etc. but i'm still curious about its lyrics. so please, can anyone translate that? thank you!

"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to?
You will never find that life for which you are looking.
When the gods created man they allotted to him death,
but life they retained in their own keeping"

hmm... amethyst stone? i suggest the name comes from the amethystos wines.. Perhaps you are from Drama? :P btw muge, amethystos translates as 'non-intoxicated'.
"I like this place and willingly could waste my time in it"

    You're both right!

According to wikipedia:"Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz often used as an ornamental stone in jewelry.
The name comes from the Ancient Greek a- ("not") and methustos ("intoxicated"),
a reference to the belief that the stone protected its owner from drunkenness; the ancient Greeks and Romans wore amethyst and made drinking vessels of it in the belief that it would prevent intoxication."

"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to?
You will never find that life for which you are looking.
When the gods created man they allotted to him death,
but life they retained in their own keeping"

You're lucky. It's a privilege to live among stones and crystals.
If you love it, try to study gemology and travel to Amsterdam ,Singapore or NY to find a work.
