These lyrics indicate to me that it is an old song... just by the way it is written. This is one of those songs that is difficult to translate the meaning because it is so beautiful in its original form. For example, "penca" is not just an ordinary leaf... it's a hard, tough. I really could not find a way to explain what a Maguey is.
There are lines in there that can definitely be improved upon. I welcome assistance because that's how I improve my skills.
