yet another song ID

I knew I should have written down these lyrics right away. I forgot them already, but I'm going to see if anyone can figure out the song I'm talking about anyway.

I heard it yesterday 12/12/08 in AEO. It was quite dancy, with a nice beat and a female singer. I'm probably getting the lyrics wrong, but I seem to remember something about the "stranger beside me". I think I remember the phrase "person that I once knew".

That probably isn't enough to go on. But we'll see.. anyone??
