Name This Singer! Who IS She?

Around sometime in 2002 I was watching Mega Star on Greek TV and the host was interviewing this young, blond singer who just came out with a new album. She could speak Spanish and she did in the beggining of the interview. A video clip of hers showed her in a dersert (looked like Mexico) and I believe she was wearing a big Mexican hat in the clip. Who was she? What's her name? Please let me know!

It could have been the very end of 2001 or the beggining of 2002. I can't remember any lyrics of her song but it was Modern Laika.
