I'm curious if anyone here knows how to write lyrics. I'm a good poet, but even my poetry doesn't have rhythm, so I was wondering if anyone knows how to write something like melody.

I can help. what are you working with?
i'm trying to get the hang of writing poetry with a melody (aka lyrics). do you have any advice on the melody part?
i've got some talent for writing prose, but not much for either poetry with rhythm or lyrics, because I misses out on music lessons in school.
My main advice is to find a basic rhythm (be it just a basic downbeat or whatever) and try talking your poetry to the rhythm. If it sounds off or too many syllables adjust it slightly.
I usually write a song by writing the lyrics first and then picking up my guitar and find a strumming pattern that kind of fits the words (as in, the emphasized words go with the strumming etc.). When I get a basic strumming pattern (or beat, if hip hop is more your thing) I adjust my lyrics/poetry so it sounds smooth.
I am a hobbyist at best so don't feel like you have to do it my way. Everyone has their own way of making poetry into lyrics, and don't think that you have to turn poetry into lyrics. Look into an artist called Adam Gnade. What he does is write poetry and talk them to music he writes.
