With my white sandals
I once was walking
beside the nets of a fisherman
My fathers had got "stars"
and shiny shoulder cords
But I was missing happiness
and I reserved a sea in my mind
τ' όνειρο χάλασα ποιανού;
which one's is the dream that I spoiled?
With my white sandals
which their (white) band torn apart
I found some warm asphalt
With a baby flower in the flowerpot
that has been seperated from the earth
laughters and tears crosswise to each other
and i reserved a sea as a light
in case love was hidden
With the white sandals
i step onto the profane,
the wild thorns of the times
into ineffable streets
and while over their buckle
I bend and untie the present
and i reserve a sea for wishing
as if (my) soul is a pebble
Notices..... or something like that
Well the song obviously consists of 3 parts.
In
the first one, she remembers herself too young wearing white sandals
while walking by the sea.
(That's the picture that she is based on, for the creation of the whole song)
She remembers herself feeling proud of her duddy's official suit, which was full
of badges like "stars" and "shoulder cords".
But she used to feel unhappy during that period.
So she starts the metaphors of the song by stating that under this period
her existence (the existence of a child) had spolied the dreams of someone.
2nd part
while the sandals remained WHITE (her personal values remained in one piece)
they have been worn during time (she had some experiences during the years).
She found a warm road (a love affair).
And here's the part that makes me wonder.....
She talks about a "ανθό μωρό".
Lina is a lyricist that writes based on her experiences, so how could she has written
about a baby while she's NOT a mother?
So she either talks about motherhood
and the inevitable happy and unhappy moments of the "proccess".
Or... the beggining of a great love affair.
And thats why she creates the metaphor of the sea as the light used to
recognize true love
last part.
She finds herself troubled by the difficulties of modern times
but also armed with her moral values (sandals are still white) versus the "new"
profane ethics.
She declares herself willing to fight for releasing the present from those symptoms,
and finally uses the last metaphor to wish for the future.
Well that's all I can get from this one!
