    Default Season's Past

Sweet summertime nights draw me in
The breezy air rushing in again
    The light begins to fade
While the warmth will stay the same
Do you still think about my name?

    How I miss those nights
Holding hands, making plans about our future
    How I miss those nights
Left behind all our problems and we could drift away

Even after the pain and sorrow
I can say that I still love you
Even if the pain subsides tomorrow
I can say we could have made it work
Even when I know what you have done
I still just want last years love

Warm summer nights cannot compare to the chill of fall
We bundled up in each other under blankets
Even though I know what you've done
Never will I think we won't make it

    How I miss those nights
Holding hands, making plans about our future
    How I miss those nights
Left behind all our problems we could drift away

Even after the pain and sorrow
I can say that I still love you
Even if the pain subsides tomorrow
I can say we could have made it work
Even when I know what you have done
I still just want last years love

When fall's colors have subsided and the cold piercing air
We get playfully divided fighting about what's not fair
Looking back at these nights all the good and the bad
I could take away the fights and just keep when we said "I love you"

"It's our home, let us go, we've got this under control.
Will they know? Should we go? Make a night of our own."
The things I said to you I wouldn't change a thing
Even when I know where you've been sleeping

And though the spring will end and bring summer again
Even though I feel this pain, and feel that we've reached the end
I can't fall asleep knowing you're with him
No matter how hard I try to move on from you
The girls I meet aren't half the person you'll become
    I take back these things
Because I want to compromise, I want you to realize I'm in this for you

So much feeling behind the words! I like it What genre would you have it set to?

Thank you so much! Honestly probably something like Mae, Mayday Parade, Between the Trees...Something punkish I suppose, but I am in no means opposed to hearing it in any genre, they're all good to me! (:

I love these lyrics. I have always been fond of lyrics which refer to the change of seasons. In my country, The Netherlands, there's a current hit song which in my view beautifully reflects the mood of this piece. The song is called "Waves" by Mr. Probz. Maybe some of the more 'wordy' verses can be rapped instead of sung. I am thinking of a very relaxed, old school rap style like "I Need Love" by LL Cool J.

Having never heard of Mr. Probz, I have to thank you for introducing me to him. "Waves" is a great song, and I think you are spot on by using something similar to set the mood. Thanks for your input; All my life I've been writing but never had the courage to share, so we'll see where this takes me
