Thumbs up Solved: An obscure song I've been after for years

There is a pretty obscure song that I have tried, off and on, for years, to locate. I believe it was done between 1969 and 1973.These are what I think I remember of the lyrics (it's been so long ago that I can only hope).

"When I was born they covered me up. Made me feel guilty, then they gave me a cup. They called me a beggar. I grew up a thief; Religious flowers planted all up under my feet. Power to the People!(power to the people) Power to the People! (power to the people) Power to the People!(power to the people)
Right on, & Right on, & Right on!

That's it. I don't think the title is "Power to the People" because the only song by that title during that time frame was a Beatles' or John Lennon song. Thank you very much. I look forward to finally having this puzzle solved for me.

I found a song with the "Power to the people" and "right on" lines: Doc Severinsen - Power To The People

    Try the following songs:

"Power to the People" by Curtis Mayfield (1970)
"Power to the People" by Joe Henderson (1969)
"Power to the People" by The Chi-Lites (1972)
"All Power To the People, Pt 1." by Joe Savage
Them that can, do; them that can't... memorize Artist and Title

Hey FortyTworc and Claybricks---you guys are awesome. I became interested in Johnny Thunder's career after hearing "Verbal Expressions of TV" on Vice and the other side of that 45, "I'm Alive." I bought the "Power to the People" 45 and put it up on youtube cause it's an awesome song. That's my youtube vid! Was this song ever played on the radio?? What a trip!

Also Claybricks, I have a question for you: A song I once heard on the radio. Kind of an upbeat rockabilly-esque number about a guy having an encounter with a martian while cooking breakfast. Key lyrics include "Little green man" and something like "took my meat from the frying pan."

    Thanks dudes.
