You're probably thinking of either "I love the Mountains (Boom-De-Yada)" or "Heart and Soul."

Sounds a lot like Come Go with Me by the Del Vikings or Heart n Soul by Jan n Dean or something by a girl group from the early '60s.

With less counterpoint and more harmony, could also be (almost as famous as one of our MODs
)
The Chordettes - Lollipop -
Thank you guys for your answers. I'm just going to conclude that it just sounds similar to a lot of older songs and that is why I really thought it was based off a certain song (mostly so I can just move on).
The songs that I think it could basically be a combination of are:
The Regents - Barbara Ann

The Chordettes - Lollipop

Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers - Why Do Fools Fall in Love

Del Vikings - Come Go With Me

Lollipop by the Chordettes is exactly the one by the girl group from the early '60s I was thinking of. That's the one it sounds most like. It also brought to mind the Lymon hit.
