I really need to I-dentify this reggae tune - it goes something like:

    and she's goooooone
    far far awaaaaaaay
    and she left me alooooone
    ....

    something like that...
and it sounds kinda like toots and the maytals but I couldn't find any toots song that sounds like that.

I gotta know what song it is, it's driving me crazy.
    cheers

There's an old Don Gibson song called "Far Far Away" (1960) that is a close match for your lyrics and has been covered by Kenny Price, Roy Orbison and many others. There's a raggae song with the same name by Max Romeo (1969) but I can not find any lyrics or a sample of Romeo's song.

    abuanthar,

You get the prize for being the first to acknowledge the source for my avatar!
Therefore, I feel motivated to reward you with an ELP trivia factoid. The title song for the Brain Salad Surgery album (1973) was cut from the album (maybe because it was considered to be unmarketable (i.e., bad)). However, the song magically reappeared in 1977 on the Works Volume II album along with two other songs ("When The Apple Blossoms Bloom..." and "Tiger In The Spotlight") which were also cut from the Brain Salad Surgery album. It's my opinion that Works Volume II was a trash can for previously unreleased material that was produced to meet a contractual obligation. The only high point of the album is the song "Watching Over You". Even the song, "I Believe in Father Christmas", is a water-down version of the original recording that was previously released only as a single.
Wow, I have been waiting 30 years to say that... I feel so much better now.

By the way, was one of my suggestions the song you were looking for?

    interesting....
unfortunately, I couldn't really find the song you told me about, but I checked the lyrics somewhere and it doesn't exactly seem like the tune I was talking about...

Now I'm not quite sure, but I have a feeling the real song is by Errol Gentles and it's actually called "far far away" like you said. However I can't get it anywhere...

    Unhappy sounds really good

but it's not the song I was talking about....
the one I was referring to is sung by a guy with a really soulful voice, kinda like the guy from toots and the maytals.

I just responded to your post here, I thought this was what you was talking about... But I will read this whole thread for one more time, I think I have missed something major here
