Please help with a song...

My mom is trying to figure out this song. She doesn't know any of the lyrics, but the song is about a little girl who's parents are into drugs & alcohol. One night her father killed her mother and she hid behind the couch. She was taken a long long wase away from there to a new home with nicer people, while she was at a church camp she was looking at a picture of Jesus one day and said that's the guy who was there and helped her the night her daddy killed her mother
