can you help me to understand when exactly I should use atunci and when I should use apoi?? Are there rules I can learn?
thanks

I think that "atunci" is "then" & "apoi" is more like "after" or "next"...but I could be wrong...I wouldn't be surprised if I am lol.

DeBaires...you were not wrong
Indeed:
atunci= then
apoi=after/next
The only thing that can be confusing is in a context like this:
Well, then...I don't know what else to say... = Apoi/Atunci...nu stiu ce altceva sa mai spun.
In this case you could use both although the right choice would be "atunci" -
i don't know which course you have with pimsleur, but they recently (within the last 3 months) released additional material. There used to be only 'conversational' romanian, which was 10 thirty minute lessions contained on 5 CD's. Now they offer 'comprehensive' romanian, which is 30 thirty minute lessons on 15 CDs, but the first 10 lessons are exactly the same as conversational romanian..
you can find it on amazon.com

Hi everyone, this here is a rather comprehensive document on Romanian grammar. It can be a bit dense, but it's definitely a good resource:

Hey guys,
I came accross this website www.bab.la where they have a comprehensive Romanian-English dictionary and a couple of language quizzes for Romanian as well.
take a look & hope it's useful -
how can i say " I must, you must, etc? and the past tense? thanks...

Trebuie- present tense
A trebuit --past tense
Present Tense
Eu trebuie
Tu trebuie
El/Ea trebuie
Noi trebuie
Voi trebuie
Ei/Ele trebuie
Past Tense
Eu a trebuit
Tu a trebuit
El/Ea a trebuit
Noi a trebuit
Voi a trebuit
Ei/Ele au trebuit
This verb is always followed by another verb in the conjunctive mode( să + vb)
Eu trebuie să plec- I must go
El trebuie să vorbească- He must speak
Eu a trebuit să citesc- I had to read
Noi a trebuit să ne întoarcem- We had to come back -
another question, I try to speak in romanian: cum spuneti sentimentele pentru cineva? in limba italiana noi spunem:
io ti amo: eu te iubesc ( pe mama, pe nevasta, pe logodnica )
io ti voglio bene: ( nu este iubirea, eu "voglio bene" pe un prieten dar nu iubesc un prieten, daca eu spun "ti amo" el desigur gandeste ca sunt homosexual )
io ci tengo a te: se spune asa cu o femeie sau un prieten special, eu spun ca pentru mine esti important..
scusati-ma pentru gresele.. -
You could use:
Țin la tine-- I care for you
Țin foarte mult la tine-- I care for you very much
I will think of other ways and I'll let you know -

secondo me anche 'îmi eşti drag/-ă' sarebbe un'ottimo equivalente di 'ti voglio bene' o 'ci tengo a te'.
forse, per maggior enfasi potresti dire 'îmi eşti foarte drag/-ă' -
