Solved: Need a song title and artist. Help!

Not much to go on. The chorus is "funky, funky..." It's a kind of funky jazz song, medium tempo. I've had great luck with this site before.

Do you have any idea about the singer of the song? Male? Female?
And probably the time of the release?

Can't provide much help, except to say that the singer is male. Someone thought the artist was Herbie Hancock, but I wasn't able to locate a title by him that sounded right.

Try "Funky Broadway" written by D_ke Christian (D_ke And The Blazers) and originally performed by Wilson Pickett in 1967. There has been several covers including The Temptations and Bruce Springsteen.

Cha Cha Slide ain't it. It's got a slower tempo.
