    ooo i got the idea now. they actually refer to something and they replace the subject in the exaples you have and they change according to the gender.

    Well done sydarr, but remember the relative clause must be between comas

    i don't really wanna use barrio but i don't know any other words for it

    I would say, "Tenia que quedarme en mi vencindario" or "Tuve que quedarme en mi vencindario". Maybe someone else could check this out but that's how I would say it...
