This one's got kind of a story behind it... I stepped outside my dorm to go to class and I find a tiny, newborn squirrel huddled and shivering in the middle of the path, apparently having been removed from its mother somehow. I got the feeling that she might have never seen her mother before, cause when she saw me she ran straight for me and grabbed onto my leg. I shook her off, and tried to think about how to help her for a little bit but eventually had to go to class and decided to try and help when I came back. When I came back she was gone, and I've felt shitty about it ever since.
Sun was high and the clouds were gone,
Left my bed for another’s throne,
Never would have if I had known,
Took my steps to the autumn world,
As she took her first breath from her own,
Abandoned as an orphan blind,
Saw the world for the first time,
Fear is born and left behind,
When she saw me there,
Nature lied, we were entwined.
And the first thing that she saw,
Was the last thing,
That I could ever be.
Left the cement for a warmer ground,
Before I knew what I had found,
To my leg she became bound,
Had to shaker her off,
She fell without a sound.
And the only thing she needs,
Tossed her away,
She was scattered with the leaves.
Cowardly as a drunks dog can seem,
We both found ourselves to be,
Left that place so I was free,
When I returned she was gone,
Doomed to live with thoughts of flee.
And the love she never received,
Was as vital as,
The air she barely breathed.
And what I never saw again,
Will follow me,
And I’ll never forgive.
Don’t know what I had to do,
But I promise now,
I’d do better for you
I'm also trying to think of something to tie it together. When it was writing it I thought of "Like Suicide" by Soundgarden because the inspirations are similar, and how the phrase "Like Suicide" ties the song together. I'm broke out of ideas though....
