Default Vajta - Sjetim se Bosne

    Bokic,

I tried translating the wonderful song Sjetim se Bosne by Vajta. I need some input on my translation, please. I might have misunderstood some things.

    Stigli smo iz daljine
    We arrived from far away
    Tiho je svitala zora
    The sun dawned quietly
    Ovdje ćemo raditi, sine
    Here we will work, son
    Radit jer živjet se mora
Work because we have to live

    I otac je digao ruku
    And father raised his hand
    Gledao me teško i sjetno
And watched me heavily and sadly
    Pokazao mi more i luku
He showed me the sea and the port
    I prošlo je djetinjstvo sretno
    And my happy childhood passed

    Zavolio sam ove ljude
I came to love these people
    Beskrajno dobre i ponosne
    Infinitely good and proud
I opija me ovo more kao nekad miris trave rosne
And this ocean intoxicates me like the smell of dewy grass once did
Al' i sad i sad često
But still now, still now, I often
    Sjetim, sjetim se Bosne
Come to think, come to think of Bosnia

Zavolio sam ovo more i našao zenu koju ljubim
I came to love this sea and I found a woman whom I kiss
I opija me ovo more kao nekad miris trave rosne
And this ocean intoxicates me like the smell of dewy grass once did

everything is correct just I'd put here
I found a woman whom I kiss - I found a woman whom I LOVE instead of kiss
''Glupost je sama u sebe zaljubljena i njeno je samoljublje bezgranično.''

    ''Siamo niente senza fantasie''

''Наверное мне место на луне, но страшно оставаться в темноте''

Gosh! the ljubim thing has been killing my brain for a while.. Because it's used as above .. Ljubiti = voleti
but.. what about when finishing a letter (phone conversation) etc. with Ljubim te!
Is it like 'kisses!' or 'Volim te'?

Ah the mysteries of our language!
    lol

I am sure he meant pusa LOL
    as in - kiss

But I guess that's more a Croatian thing.. we don't say "pusa" (at least I think so).. maybe "cmok" instead but more likely "ljubim te" (creating the mystery that I mentioned above lol)
