A friend of mine translated The Hunt.
Let's go to the field.
Which field?
The same that has rabbits, oh yes.
And my dog has a rope on its foot, oh yes.
Don't kill my dog nor my rabbits,
For the dream of the rabbit reminds me of the dream of my lover, oh yes.
Let's go to the mountain.
Which mountain?
The same that has deer, oh yes.
And my dog has a rope on its foot, oh yes.
Don't kill my dog nor my rabbit, nor my deer
For the grace of the deer reminds me of the grace of my lover, oh yes.
Let's go to the garden.
Which garden?
The same that has pheasants, oh yes.
And my dog has a rope on its foot, oh yes.
Don't kill my dog nor my rabbit, nor my deer, nor my pheasants
For the amble of the pheasant reminds me of the amble of my lover, oh yes.
Let's go to the well.
Which well?
The same that has pigeons, oh yes.
And my dog has a rope on its foot, oh yes.
Don't kill my dog, nor my rabbit, nor my deer, nor my pheasants, nor my pigeons
For the flight of the pigeon reminds me of the flight of my lover, oh yes.
Let's go to the mountains.
Which mountains?
The same that has eagles, oh yes.
And my dog has a rope on its foot, oh yes.
Don't kill my dog, nor my rabbit, nor my deer, nor my pheasants, nor my pigeons, nor my eagles
For the clutch of the eagle reminds me of the clutch of my lover, oh yes.

Actually, this is a ghazal by Khwaja Mir Dard (18th century). It's considered a classic masterpiece of Urdu ghazal.
Here it is:
Mera ghuncha-e-dil hai woh dil-grifta,
Aziat, musibat, malaamat, balaaen,
Hijaab-e-rukh-e-yaar the aap hi ham,
Khuli aankh jab, koi parda na dekha.
Shab-o-roz ai Dard darpai hun uske,
Kaso ne jise yaan samjha na dekha.
***
If here we see Thee not immanent in Thy grace,
What use, then, our earthly pilgrimage?
My heart is such a crumpled bud,
None has ever seen it bloom.
Trouble, torture, reproach, disaster,
What all haven't I suffered in love?
The scars within have set me ablaze,
Alas, you haven't seen this sight.
Your indifference has wrought my ruin,
You never, never looked this way.
I was the veil that hid my love's face,
As I awoke, the curtain arose.
Him I pursue day and night, Dard,
Whom none has ever seen or known.

As sung by Azam Ali (I totally love this woman):
Tujhi ko jo yaan jalwa farma na dekha,
Baraabar hai duniya ko dekha na dekha.
Mera ghuncha-e-dil hai woh dil-grifta,

Fantastic!!! I have also been searching for Niyaz lyrics for some time now.
Azam Ali is spectacular, she has an amazing voice and deep artistic intelligence. I believe she sings in Farsi, Urdu, Turkish, and English(not with Niyaz though).
Well this may be in the wrong forum, because I believe the lyrics are Turkish, but can anyone translate the following Niyaz song? I would be so grateful. Its called Beni Beni:
bab-i ihsanindan mürüvvet eyle mürüvvet eyle
karistirma her bir esyaya beni
bakma isyanima merhamet eyle
ulastir menzili dost dost a'laya beni beni dost beni beni
beni beni beni beni sevdigim beni beni
ulastir menzili dost dost a'laya beni beni dost beni beni
kün buyurdun her esyayi yitirdin yali yitirdin
mevcudati kemaline getirdin
yaptin ars'i kürs'ü çiktin oturdun
düsürdün dünyayi dost dost kavgaya beni beni dost beni beni
beni beni beni beni sevdigim beni beni
düsürdün dünyayi dost dost kavgaya beni beni dost beni beni
dertliye tükenmez nice dert verdin ala dert verdin
ne çekmeye sabir ne gayret verdin verdin
ne saltanat verdin ne devlet verdin
ya niçin getirdin dost dost dünyaya beni beni dost beni beni
beni beni beni beni sevdigim beni beni
beni beni beni beni sevdigim beni beni
ulastir menzili dost dost a'laya beni beni
dost beni beni
dost beni beni
dost beni beni
... and Bulgarian. With Vas.
Yes, Beni Beni is in Turkish, so I'll leave it to freud.
From me - "Tamana". It's another 18th century ghazal by Khwaja Mir Dard.
Your quest is my objective, as long as I live,
Of you alone I talk, while I have a tongue.
God knows how it all may end,
Impatient am I, intemperate he.
For you alone I yearn, if yearn at all,
You are my desire, if I harbour one.
Much have I travelled in the garden of this world,
Peerless is the flower of friendship in its scent and hue.
A blessing is the sense of sight, the sight of friends a boon,
You and I will cease to be, once our eyes are shut.
Who else, o Dard, should my eyes accost?
He alone is present wheresoever I look.

The original ghazal:
Mera ji hai jab tak teri justju hai,
Zabaan jab talak hai yehi guftgoo hai.
Khuda jane kya hoga anjaam is ka,
Main besabar itna hun woh tund khu hai.
Tamanna hai teri agar hai tamanna,
Teri aarzoo hai, agar aarzoo hai.
Kiya sair ham ne gulzaar-e-duniya,
Gul-e-dosti mein ajab rang-o-boo hai.
Ghanimat hai yeh deed wa deed-e-yaarraan,
Jahan mund gayi aankh, mein hun na tu hai.
Nazar mere dil ki pari Dard kis par,
Jidhar dekhta hun wohi rubroo hai.
***
As sung by Azam Ali (she changes the places of the verses, and uses one as a chorus):
Mera ji hai jab tak teri justju hai,
Zabaan jab talak hai yehi guftgoo hai.
Kiya sair ham ne gulzaar-e-duniya,
Gul-e-dosti mein ajab rang-o-boo hai.
Tamanna hai teri agar hai tamanna,
Teri aarzoo hai, agar aarzoo hai.
Khuda jane kya hoga anjaam is ka,
Main besabar itna hun woh tund khu hai.
Tamanna hai teri agar hai tamanna,
Teri aarzoo hai, agar aarzoo hai.
Nazar mere dil ki pari kis par,
Jidhar dekhta hun wohi rubroo hai.
Tamanna hai teri agar hai tamanna,
Teri aarzoo hai, agar aarzoo hai.
Khuda jane kya hoga anjaam is ka,
Main besabar itna hun woh tund khu hai.
Tamanna hai teri agar hai tamanna,
Teri aarzoo hai, agar aarzoo hai.
It's funnier in Enochian
This is not a persian song!!!!
Who said it was?
It's funnier in Enochian
Correct.
Niyaz is an Iranian trio. I believe the lyrics to their songs belong to this section.

wow! you were able to translate Tamana as well! this is another of my favorites, and i really appreciate it, even though it might be in the wrong section, but thank you for not scattering them. i mean really theres not an 'Urdu' translation section anyway. i did not know she sang in Bulgarian, that is interesting. I also read somewhere that Ali has made up a language that she has used in the lyrics for some songs on another project as well, but i dont know the details.
My overall favorite song of theirs is Molk-e-Divan, and its in Persian, any chance of getting that romanized? (the english translation appears to be in the liner notes of the album) thanks again! you have been a wonderful help.
so the song is called the Hunt, that's it right? because i've been trying to find that song and it's lyrics, so
Sepas(Thanks in Persian)
the song is called the Hunt indeed. here is a link to the video and lyrics both translated and with original Persian:

thanks alot, i've found this website on the same day, thanks alot though
I had forgotten about this thread. Anyway...
"Iman"
Actually, this is a mix of two Urdu rubaiyat (rubai is a Persian quatrain; plural rubaiyat).
"Allah wohi hai tau na muztir ho" is a stanza from a rubai by Mirza Salamat Ali Dabir (19th century). Azam Ali uses it as a chorus.
It translates as "Don't feel perturbed when Eternal God is here".
The other one is a rubai by Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali (19th century).
Jab maayusi dilon pe chhaa jaati hai,
Dushman se bhi naam tera japwaati hai;
Mumkin hai ke sukh mein bhul jaaen itfaal,
Lekin unhein dukh mein maan hi yaad aati hai.
When despair our hearts doth maul,
Atheists too Thy name recall;
Children might forget their mother in prosperous days;
They cannot but think of her when hard times appal.
____________
As sung by Azam Ali:
Allah wohi hai tau na muztir ho
Jab maayusi dilon pe chhaa jaati hai
Dushman se bhi naam tera japwaati hai - /2/
Allah wohi hai tau na muztir ho
Mumkin hai ke sukh mein bhul jaaen itfaal
Lekin unhein dukh mein maan hi yaad aati hai /2/
Allah wohi hai tau na muztir ho

Hi,
Yes, this is a Turkish sufi-folk song. I tried to make a translation to express the meaning, rather than a word by word conversion. I hope it helps passing the emotion to you as well.
BENİ BENİ
From your Door of Benevolence, cast your generosity upon me
Don't let me mix into the world of matters
Overlook my rebellion, show compassion
Take me, O Friend, to my goal - the ultimate destination
(Take) me me me me, O Beloved, (take) me me
Take me, O Friend, to my goal - the ultimate destination
"Be!" You ordered, and You created every object
You brought the existance to Your perfection
You made the Ninth Heaven a throne, and placed Yourself there
Then you reduced me, O Friend, down into the struggle of the world
(Take) me me me me, O Beloved, (take) me me
You reduced me, O Friend, down into the struggle of the world
You gave unending pain after pain to Dertli* (poet's nickname, meaning 'The Painful')
You gave neither the patience, nor the effort
Neither the reign to him, nor the state
Why on earth, O Friend, have you brought me to this world
(Take) me me me me, O Beloved, (take) me me
Countless thanks, O Friend, you made my way to a safe haven at last
(Take) me me me me, O Beloved, (take) me me
Take me, O Friend, to my goal - the ultimate destination
Is it possible for someone to post the lyrics of Dilruba with translation? this is one of my favorites
