kinda old alternative rock song?

all i can remember was a guy sings it and one of the lines are "burning down the worlds on fire". please help me someone.

If it was in the 80s, I have a vague memory of a song by the Machinations that was about the world burning using a similar line.

Last time I ever heard any of their songs was on Countdown (Australia). I see there are a lot more search results for the band now on google now than there were 3 or so years ago.
