Ljudi! Happy New Year to everyone!
Could anyone help me with the lyrics of Bregovic's "Cup-Cik" please?
Would be endless happy to get to know the words there, and even happier to get their translation ))

Hey, this song is a mix of a few other songs, I heard the melody of the song "Čik pogodi" - Lepa Brena ....

I heard: "Ne doodi na pazar, konja ja....???"
(don't come to the market, a horse I...???")

They sing in an old language....

    Thx, ina!
Do you have any idea of what that "chupchik" could be? There's the word "chub" in Ukranian, naming a special "haircut" so to say, "a lock of hair" (see the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oseledets)... Does it have anything to do with that?

Oh, really? Neither do I, though yea.. it's not my mother tongue ))
Though I do recognise swear words when watchin' Kusturica's films in Serbian... like "Hey, hey, he's just sworn!!!" ))

I like Ilya Repin- Oseledets, but it's difficult to see their haircuts clearly

    I guess it's:
    чуб = (srb) ćuba
crest = (srb) kresta; comb of a rooster

    like this guy has:

    or like this one:

I don't think the song has something to do with this. I believe it is just something like a made-up exclamation:
"cup" from "cupkti" = to jig, to tap, to pat
    "cik" from "cika" =squeak

I agree with Ina that cup-cik is probably made-up!

I suppose čup-čik might be something like opa-cupa

Sorry, I just copy it from a comment of Youtube. You can find some answers here: http://www.youtube.com/comment_servl...ture%3Drelated

If babino bonboche means grandma's sweetheart, I think that chupchik is some sweet
