Hi i must to say that Britney is one of the best singers currently i love too much in speacial a lyric CANT MAKE U LOVE ME i think all girls and perhaps boys too have feeling the same for someone and dosen't mater if we are handosme, too prety or iresestible to almost all boys/girls always will come someone will make us crash on a wall and make us see we are not such hansome/ beutiful or irresisteble as we thought. So I WANNA WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT ...THERE IS SOMEONE HERE CAN SAY NEVER NOONE HAVE SCAPE OF UR LOVE?
Henrik Ohlsson
Mikael Stanne
Devin Townsend
Serj Tankian
Jon Lajoie
I strongly recommend that you familiarize yourselves with the lyrics these guys write. Here's a sample of Henrik Ohlsson's work, from his band Scar Symmetry's song called Holographic Universe:
Bathe in laser light, the beam will underline
The birth of universe from nothingness
Prime awakening, the second beam comes in
To bounce and interfere as drawn by will
We're finding that we can never die
A subject no more to loss and gain
The more you try connect with form
The less you're yearning to see all you could behold
Then the third beam comes in to bring it all alive
And bring to form the once chaotic swirl
See creation sing the word infinity
Behold this organized constructive skill
We're finding that we can never die
A subject no more to loss and gain
The more you try connect with form
The less you're yearning to see all you could behold
While all we did was to divide
Breaking down the whole
Whe never looked at what we found-
Hologram within
While we relied on space and time
No one here can know
At last we looked at what we found
Holographic worlds are in sight
To consciousness we moved from where we used to find a god
Whe have made this concept our own
Now we believe that this reality came from a dream
Forever tried to tell us: "Time is on our side"
You recite this knowing and you find it all
Night leads to day as mind finds a way
You were asleep now you leave the role of one forsaken play
This time we found a way to view the world inside
Now we've come to know it and leave the past behind
While all we did was to divide
Breaking down the whole
Whe never looked at what we found
Rise from decay in worlds gone astray
Truth lies beneath, hiding deep within a once forsaken way
While all we did was to divide
Breaking down the whole
Whe never looked at what we found-
Hologram within
While we relied on space and time
No one here can know
At last we looked at what we found
Here unfolds the truth of all that is alive
And here we wash away what was proclaimed
Hail awakening, forever lead us in the urge to be alive
We know you will
Ok, first Britney and now the best lyricists ever is a guy who writes in Swenglish.
Where are the mods when you need one?
PS Du får faktiskt lägga av!!
Whole at last with a golden view
Well, Henrik's grammar may indeed a bit lacking, which is particularly evident in his lines like "does the rules of manifestation apply". That's kinda popular in Swedes I suppose, since your verb forms are identical for every grammatical person, amirite?![]()
Bunnymenfan, don't take it personal. The topic is about FAVOURITE lyricists not about deciding who's the best. Actually, I hate Britney, however, we should respect people's choice as long as they don't force us to like it too.
100% is amber
forever amberrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
What's popular among Swedes? Speaking Swenglish? Yes, it's very common, although most of them are not aware of that.
Hos svenskarna = in Swedes... Ja, där ser man: Swenglish. Hos=in funkar ju inte alltid
Which is why some people (imo) should show a bit more respect for a foreign language they obviously don't master. You can always get a qualified native speaker to check your grammar before recording your songs. But even Abba failed to do that ("no more ace to play", unforgettable, lol). Of course that won't change the fact that the writer has a very limited vocabulary, a limited knowledge of the language... you can't expect too much out of that. An excellent writer must have an excellent command of the language, even if he goes for simple lyrics, someone who hasn't "lived" the language, who doesn't feel it intuitively can't reach the level of a native speaker.
(Yes, I'm a language freak)
Oh, I agree on that, it's only that the way I see it there's a huge difference between saying who your favourite lyricist is and starting a discussion about a song by Ms Spears and teen feelings.

So am I, and I understand really well what you're talking about. Nevertheless, when I find really valuable lyrics I tend to put grammatical correctness aside, at least to a degree. I'm a fan of Mr. Ohlsson's lyrics because of their message and significance, so I can forgive some negligible errors, especially since there's a lot of bands whose lyrics are written in an uncomparably worse English (like in Kalmah's Defeat, for example: "You - The only one making myself me"). You can't flame someone for trying. Sure, his lyrics COULD have used some native speaker's check-up beforehand, but everyone can be sloppy...
"Through portals of silvery bliss
Exit the flesh, leaving all of this
I travel within, my eyes remain closed
To this body I am but a host"
Now tell me that some American teenager is a better lyricist than this guy, just because he was born an English speaker![]()

I love Josh Homme's lyrics, especially his early stuff
