    Default Need help with instrumental

Obviously, this one is going to be challenging.

The song sounds a little like "Turkey in the straw" and "Yakety Sax." In the vein of Herb Alpert/Tijuana Brass and Scott Joplin. Might be jazz or ragtime from the 60s or 70s. I'll do my best to describe the song:

High Trumpet: "dada dada dat dat dada dada dada dat," Lower register: "dodo doot dodo doot dodo dodo dodo doot."

Repeats throughout the song with variations. Song has no lyrics that I can remember.

This might be a novelty song, but it's a start.

    Help if you can. Thanks.

On Emerson, Lake and Palmer's 1972 album "Trilogy", they recorded a version of Aaron Copeland's song "Hoedown" from Rodeo. It is an instrumental which ELP inserted a short piece of the song "Turkey in the Straw".

Thanks for the reply, Great video by Emerson. Thanks!

The song I'm looking for is mostly trumpet and big bandish sound. Cross between hugh masekela and Herb Alpert.

High Trumpet: "dada dada dat dat dada dada dada dat," Lower register: "dodo doot dodo doot dodo dodo dodo doot."

    Repeat..

High Trumpet: "dada dada dat dat dada dada dada dat," Lower register: "dodo doot dodo doot dodo dodo dodo doot."

High Trumpet: "dada dada dat dat dada dada dada dat, daAAAAda dat dat DADA DADA DADA DAT.

Nope, and it's not Tequila - The Champs, either.

Have you tried some of more popular Herb Alpert songs like, "The Lonely Bull (El Solo Torro)", "A Taste of Honey", "Spanish Flea" and "Tijuana Taxi"?

I uploaded an mp3 with me humming the trumpet part. Please listen and maybe that will be more helpful.

    Argggg...
I instantly recognized the tune from your download but it has been used in so many TV commercials that I can't remember the original artist or song name. Herb Alpert's "Tijuana Taxi" is close but not the right song. I gonner lose some sleep over this one.

Yeah, I thought someone would have ID'd this one by now. The tune is kinda catchy and it's borderline common/obscure. It's driving me nuts as well trying to figure this one out.

    OH yeah...Heard it for sure...but in the 50's or 60's I'd say.

It evokes images of a circus for me for some reason....

Or it's part of some old Polka dance. It even sounds a little like the Chicken Dance.
