Can you please post the lyric?
I can't believe no one knows this tune.....It's so familiar and I think I might even have it in my Bubblegum collection. Sounds like the Cuff Links, Archies,Ohio Express, Tommy Roe Band
Looks like the OP already lost interest, but I haven't.....SO
BUMP !
I will. Besides, it sounds very likely to a German or Dutch production to me...if you remember "golden" German TV era, there was the "Musikladen" show with Manfred Sexauer which continuously featured this kind of artists (and at least 15 copycats...)
-----------
{chorus}
-----------
Woman
I need your love
Oooh it's true
Deep in my heart it tells me baby
I'm in love with you
Woman
Only your love
Is bringin' me through
Down in my heart I can feel it baby
I'm in love with you
----
[1]
----
God bless the day that He sent you my way
I never admitted just one single day
I was mistaken, I feel like a fool
I put you in charge of my sorrows
I know i was slow: I was already done
I picked up the pieces before I could run
You were showin' me chances and places to turn
Buildin' me up with your lovin'
{repeat chorus}
{interlude / guit. solo}
----
[2]
----
There was a need and a time for someone
Lost in a dream to an end that it come
You came along and you made me go on
By givin' me sense of tomorrow
Brought me an answer when you understood
Lovin' my songs when nobody else would
Gave me the chance to stand up for the will
Singin' it out even stronger:
{repeat chorus, w/guit. solo simultaneously played along to it}
The songs a classic, but likewise I'm stumped even to the time period or who sang it.
I am though sure I've heard it recently in an old movie sound track or tv series.
Dig some digging, and seeing as nothing pulled up with the lyrics, I looked for songs that had no apparent lyrics listed for the search engines to find and found one good result page.
Jack Scott "I Need Your Love " -1957
Samson and Delilah - "Woman " - 1967
The Impressions - "A Woman Who Loves Me" - 1964
Well, seeing that the guesswork is about to start, I either do not want to stand behind:![]()

Midnight Special - "Woman"
German group from 1976.
As usual, no sound sample as far as the eye can see...
@Fence Sitter: Save the trouble of sifting too deeply thru that 1960's stuff. Since that one must have been produced between 1972 and 1980. 100% sure.
That's exactly how I feel Fencesitter. I know I've heard this before. I was even singing along to part of it the first time I heard it. I was pretty sure it was 60's or 70's, but now I'm starting to wonder if it might not be a recent song from a movie.
I wish we could get OP back so he could answer some questions as to where he got the song.
Pianoman.....just wondering why you've ruled out the 60's ???
.
Because it sounds newer than 60's to me, just because of that.![]()
Yes could have been a recent movie, and the other possibility is it could have been in a recent TV show which is why I've heard it lately as well.
About the only movie from the 70s/early 80s I've watched in part recently, it's name and cast members escapes me, was about a voice actress who eventually records a single.
it's bugs me to no end that I can't place where I've heard it.
I'm sorry for the late reply.
My father had a collection of songs recorded on tapes from his student ages, and when he started to digitize the collection, this song was the only one, he couldn't identify by lyrics.
So the time of the recording is probably the late 70s/early 80s.
Thank you very much for posting your tips. I'll show them to my father and ask him for more precise information about this song, but no sooner than on Sunday.
If you can, ask him to list some of the other songs that are on the same tape.
It will help pin down a time frame.
I apologize for the late reply.
I asked my father about the song. He said that the song was recorded on tape between 1974-1978, but the most probable year is 1975.
The tape was recorded from other tapes, so there were collection of songs from various years. After the digitization the tape was thrown away, so he cannot list any other song that was there.
