Hello everyone. I have signed up to become a Zumba instructor and my class doesnt' start until November. I want to be a step ahead and get some songs choreographed ASAP! I would LOVE some suggestions and input for music.
My inspiration and love for dancing stems from hip hop. I love to incorporate that style of dance with latin flavor!! If you guys can give me songs so I can have a song list to start, I'll be able to build choreo. Although I love all types of latin music, I particularly love songs from Brasil (I love the group Axe Bahia for Zumba songs) --- just to give you an idea. I don't care how "old" the song is... as long as its kick @$$
Also, music that's not latin or reggaeton is definitely welcomed. I intend to make my classes have a touch of Greece incorporated somehowI would love to diversify if possible.
Thank you in advance for your help!!

I need zumba music :)
It is not good for all our wishes to be filled; thru sickness we recognize the value of health; thru evil, the value of good; thru hunger, the value of food; thru exertion, the value of rest. -
Maybe this one with a greek touch:
"GIa" by Despina Vandi (the first few seconds of the video show the cover of the CD you will find the song, available very often in ebay)

Thank you for your suggestion Tahira but I do have that song because I'm Greek
I should have made that clear in my description
I really appreciate you replying to this thread!!!!!
I need more help with the Latin music or even songs from other countries (besides Greece). Maybe even Germany? It is not good for all our wishes to be filled; thru sickness we recognize the value of health; thru evil, the value of good; thru hunger, the value of food; thru exertion, the value of rest. -
Oh, I thought that you are greek because of you name, but I was not sure. :-)
I have watched now some Zumba Videos in youtube to get an impression about it; and some of them had latin music. But I guess I can not really help with this.
The music reminded me a bit on "Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine" maybe its worth for you to listen to their music.
This is what a german website about zumba music suggests:
http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B001...SIN=B001QRO84U
In Germany they also use, kind of merengue and calypso music as it seems.
Hope somebody else can help you more
See you

Thank you soooo much Tahira! This helped me a lot!!
Zumba in general is about 70% Latin and the other 30% is whatever you want. So everyone's Zumba class is very different. It depends on the person. You will notice that some people have a strong african influence because they use african dance in their routines. There was this Zumba instructor that came to my class from Belgium and she had a completely different style then my instructor. Her music had a strong European (that's the only way I could describe it) and Calypso influence. Like I said before, It really depends on the instructor's style. That's what I love about this style of aerobics/dance.
Personally, I love to dance to hip hop. So I have a few latino/reggaeton songs for my playlist. The ones you gave me are very helpful because it'll switch up the pace. So i thank you so much.
Since I have your attention, I was thinking of using DJ Lazo presents Eli Kokkinou featuring Missy Elliot and 50 Cent- Masai as one of my greek songs...what do you think? I will probably most definitely use Jambi. I think that would be fun to choreograph too. Also, if you want to give me more greek songs, that would still be appreciated because I may be overlooking possibilities
Thanks again for your help!It is not good for all our wishes to be filled; thru sickness we recognize the value of health; thru evil, the value of good; thru hunger, the value of food; thru exertion, the value of rest. -
Masai, seems to be perfect, I love the original version by Missy elliot.
So I guess you want music with ethnic flavour and a strong regular beat?
What about Shakira (Waka Waka)?
And did you ever think about eastern music with some indian bollywood touch?
Do you know ARASH?

If you want you can have a look at those "HAREM" Cds I have mentioned in my first thread. They have kind of "Techno Oriental" Music

I think you can have samples to listen and to download in itunes or amazone. -

@Tahira- I appreciate those suggestions. I would like to to Bollywood type songs as well.
@Dragon-The Zumba world is relatively small. I know many Zumba songs but I wanted to post here to get something quite different. However, after I'm done with my training, I'll def need her help as things come along. This post is more to see people's music choices from all over the world. Zumba is an internation phenomenon and depending what country you are in, you can get a very different' "class" sort to speak. Thanks so much for your post!
@latin- Thank you so much, I'll look into this too when I'm not at work.
