This is very frustrating b/c I'm usually very good at tracking down the songs I hear. But this search may be a bit too wide for me.
I heard this song in Kroger last night (a grocery chain if not familiar) and the guy has a super raspy voice and high range, the song is slow, sounds like it would be an 80's adult contemporary or rock song, it may not have technically counted as "rock" back then, but it has a harder edge even though it's a ballad. And the chorus had the words "in the night" or "the night." At the end the guy gets super intense.
I don't think it's Rod Stewart or Tom Waits or Springsteen or Joe Cocker, b/c I would've recognized their voices. It was a little more stringent from what I remember, like a Robert Plant or that dude from AC/DC, but again, I feel like I would've recognized that.
I looked up Bob Seger, and I almost felt like I had the right guy, but I couldn't find the song. I really don't feel like it's earlier or later than 80's for the style, but it could be by a few years.
any help I could get would be super great.
Christine
