Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum. I joined after exhausting all my resources (including the mighty Google, Youtube and multiple lyric search sites) and have given up searching for it conventionally...
Now I'm asking for help, This song was on a c.d. that a friend of mine made from the internet and was a collection of songs that he liked. It was around 1997 and also had DMX's "Ruff Ryders" which was super hot at the time (if that in any way helps establish time frame).
I can only remember (what I believe is) the chorus... Beautiful voice young woman sings...
"What I wanna know..... The kind of man you are.......... shoulda left you long ago....... you wasn't much to see (The last one I'm not to sure of).
I've actually tried to reproduce what I remember of the song with F.L.Studio and have posted a YouTube video
From what I remember, the song was quite popular and had a simple and catchy 4 note electric guitar (keyboard) theme played throughout. The notes went low high - high low.
Here is a link to my Youtube vid to help, if I'm allowed to post it here:

Well, the track sounds like this:

So it's obviously a remix, yes.Ρεμπέτικο για πάντα. Μάγκες είμαστε.

Thanks SO much man, for pointing me in the right direction! I've been listening to all the versions of it I can find, including (the best) by the "Cover Girls", also Jay Z, Beyance, Teena Marie, and many others, but I can't find it!
It's not just a remix, but rather, a completely different song that is sung to the same tune and obviously includes some of the original lyrics but has been adapted to fit another artist's imagination.
Can anyone else help? -
Brenda K Starr is the original singer, and its sung in a different tempo even has remixes.

After hours more of searching, I STILL can't find this.... Can anyone else help PLEASE!?

Thanks very much for the support! I've tried EVERYTHING... Google will not bring up anything with the exact lyrics or even small portions of them or anything in between! Evedently it wasn't liked enough for someone to put the lyrics online, at least not in a fashion that google can find. All the remixes of "Wishing On A Star" listed on wikipedia are not it either, I'm back to square one, about to pull my hair out over it, and give up.
