Default 70s Soul, Isaac Hayes Maybe?

since isaac passed away, a local radio station was playing alot of his songs. there was one song that came on, i don't know whether it was isaac or not, but i have never heard it before. it was pretty long, but for the last 4 mins or so, there was guy talking while background singers where saying "never meant it for a minute, to make you mad". i've searched and searched, and can't find it. i downloaded about 15 isaac hayes songs and none of them are it(great music btw, shame it took his death for me to discover him) . anyways, anyone know what it is?

Try looking up Barry White or Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes

Could it be Al Green? That kind of sounds like one of his songs.

im 100% sure its not any of them. the voice wasn't deep enough for barry white. and i'm a big fan of the blue notes and al green and know prett much all of their songs. but now i think i remember it starting off with
every other line being either "lets think things over" , or " lets talk it over". the singer would sing a line then, "lets talk it over", then another line then the same thing. but that could be a completely different song.

Ok, not saying this is it, but is this song a similar concept?

yeh that's a good song to compare it to. i just wish i remember some of the actual song. all i remember is the last 2-3 mins where the singer was just talking while the backup singers kept repeating that line. def from the same era, and same style as the manhattans tho. reason i was thinking isaac is bc most of his songs r 9+ mins long and either end or start with him talking

I know the exact song you're talking about, but I don't remember the name, either! My father has it and used to play it when we were kids. It goes:
Waiting, oh, waiting. I've been keeping you waiting.
(Background) I never meant it, no not for a minute, to make you mad.

Is that right? That's all I can remember of it. I'm trying to find it, too. That's how I found your post. I'll let you know if I find it.
