I heard this song for the first time in 2002, but I don't know if it's older or from that year. My boyfriend at the time used to play it, and now many years later, I have tried to find it with no luck '

I don't remember much, but I do remember that the voice that is "singing" is singing higher and higher for every line. At first you can't even hear what he is singing. And when It comes to the lyrics, I don't remember what they are, but I think it's something like: I'm gonna hold you down ????
I won't let you down ???
and he is repeting this all the way higher and higher. ..... please, if someone think they know. please help!

When he sings hold you down ??? or what he is singing, ikt starts out just like a blur, you can't hear what he is singing, and for eveytime he repeats, the text get clearer and clearer and you can hear what he is singing. and then the voice just goes to a blur again... so it repeats....

No one knows ??????? I know It's not much to go on, but I don't remember any more. Just that it was like an intrumental /trance like song and the same text reapeting over and over going from low (you can't even hear what he is singing) to normal. The text can be anything really, like, i'm gonna lay you down,? I'm gonna hold you down? I'm gonna make you mine?............

I love toby keith, but this wasn't it. But thanks for trying. It wasn't a song with a lot of different text, just the lines I wrote that was repeating.

I remember he had this one on the same cd: Starsplash - Free (Free Free Free as a bird im flying) , so it would have to be when that one was out. But I have to say, that I never heard that song I can't find on the radio, so I guess it wasn't a big hit.

OK, let me "translate" musically. It's the same effect used in, for instance, "Around The World" by Daft Punk or "Music Sounds Better With You" by Stardust. What you described is just a filtering technique, where a lowpass or band-pass filter (or for the tech-heads, sometimes even a programmable equalizer) is used for altering the lead synth resp. the lead vocals. Once the filter "opens", the voice becomes crystal-clear and you understand every word; once it "closes" again---obeying the cutoff frequency you set---the voice gets a dull and blurry timbre.

No wonder someone thought of a trance tune, because this is used widely there, and elsewhere (e. g. remixers of disco classics love this effect, e. g. the legendary Tom Moulton)
