Default Alternatives to FX Replay for backtesting

Alright, maybe someone here can help me out. I’ve been using FX Replay for a bit now to backtest my setups, and while it’s decent for basics, I feel like I’ve kind of hit a wall. It’s just missing some flexibility I need — especially for simulating different scenarios or adding more custom indicators. I’m trying to level up my process and do more detailed testing, but not sure which platforms are worth switching to. Anyone found something that offers a smoother or more in-depth backtesting experience than FX Replay?

Yeah, I totally get what you're saying. I actually started out with FX Replay too — it’s solid at first, but once you get deeper into strategy work, its limitations show up fast. I went looking for better options and found this roundup on https://forextester.com/blog/fxreplay-alternatives/. It compares a bunch of alternatives with pros/cons for each. That’s how I ended up switching to something that gives me full control over things like timeframes, spread, and order types. Definitely a game-changer when you're trying to recreate real conditions. Might help you figure out which platform fits your needs best.

Interesting thread. I’ve been focused more on live trading lately, but I’ve always been curious about how in-depth people go with backtesting tools. Seems like the tech for this has come a long way compared to a few years ago.
