Batel, darling,BTW I don't think we have anything like Slovakish in Europe- did you mea Slovak (from Slovakia) or SLovene (from Slovenia)???
Hi Batel and everyone else,
I have been to a wedding as well-my niece got married this weekend! There was no Yemenite dancing, but we had a marvellous time nevertheless!
Here is a video with Hagit's winning song:

And here she sings a Kurdish song!

Sderot kind of reminds me of my own neighbourhood in Stockholm..a mix of Scandinavia, the Middle East, Kurdistan and Ethiopia...with quite a few other nationalities thrown in! Many of our friends and neighbours look just like Hagit and her family...though they are Orthodox or Catholic Christians and not Jews. Anyway, I'm glad that Hagit won-I think it will be a source of great pride and joy for the Ethiopian Jews in Israel.
Best, Eva

A few lovely golden oldies.....these are all covers of Greek melodies, but IMHO the Israeli versions have their own special flavour!

Well, friends whom I know--and please excuse me, friends I've not yet met--the last songs I listened to last night ("Hebrew edition"), were from a singer-songwriter named David.* He sang (in one of the six I liked best): "your loving kindness is better than life," "When I have remembered you upon my lounge, During the night watches I meditate on you," " ...and in the shadow of your wings I cry out joyfully," "On me, your right hand keeps fast hold . . . "
I was so impressed and touched. Do you also know him? Yes, of course, he was in the wilderness when he wrote this particular song! (psalm - 63).![]()
The reason I felt compelled to share this is because of what happened to me afterward:
"Upon my lounge, during the night watches," I began thinking of the strength and depth of David's emotions, and his beautiful expressions! Then I also began to think of some of the Israeli singers posted on other ATL threads--how they too sing deeply, beautifully, also with gaping emotions pulled from the very core . . . I was thinking on the heritage and the heartfelt emotions of Hebrew music . . .
Then, lost in these thoughts, I fell asleep . . and began dreaming of some "new-to-me modern-day" Israeli singers complete with names, music, and lyrics!!! Too bad I do not remember their names! I cannot remember the song titles or lyrics either because they must have been in my dream-created "Hebrew" words!!! But I assure you, I was duly impressed!
Hope this makes you smile! . . . It was, afterall, a very nice dream. And one of the singers--two of the three Israeli-dream-singers actually sang their songs--was very handsome too!!![]()

Thank you for indulging me . . .

Hey Pauli
Welcome to the thread ...
There are 196 countries in the world ....do you know how to inflect their names to their nationalities or language?
I don't ...so I used Google.....Go blame them![]()
I meant Slovenia and you could have seen that in the clip ......BTW ...we are about sharing our passion for music not pulling M's .
Do you know what is An M?
PM me for further information...we have a debate pending .....and until then...enjoy the music![]()
