Sorry Vuoklis I understand exactly what you're saying. But I have more and more friends from more than a dozen different countries, who tell me that their famiies use the Gregorian calendar for holidays. And now it's too much for me to remember! It gets harder and harder for me to keep it straight in my head
Having problems with vertigo for 2-3 days ... it's temporary, a mild case and it will pass, but for now I can't stay on the computer as much as normal :-/ ...

Actually I'm more than twice that age, so may I use "advanced age" for an excuse?

as a rule of thumb: greece, former yugoslavia, former soviet union (excluding latvia, lithuania, estonia and most of the "-stan's" are muslim) hopefully that helps :P

I should visit one of the baltic countries sometime

No problem Vuoklis! I've known you for while on this site, and I didn't think you were rude at all

Ok, no excuses, especially about age

Tim, thanks, and actually I have friends in several "-stans", and a Kazakh friend and his Turkish lady like to think that all the -stans belong to the Turks ... joking, j/k

If anyone is interested, Spring just started a new topic here on ATL about Traditions. It started with Easter, but it's open for all kinds of cultural or religious traditions, etc. This is the topic:

My daughter was born in Turkey, so I should always be nice to Turkish people

In Traditions, will you mention pysanky?
One person (Spring, I think) mentioned a tradition of smashing Easter eggs on the forehead ...

I had a very good friend in Turkey who was definitely a bit crazy

In Russian, how do you say "crazy" in a nice way??

Thank you SO MUCH for posting in traditions, and especially for the beautiful photos! The easter topic was not complete without pysanky

чёкнутый i'd say... but as you know, it all depends on the intonation

    Hard question, jandros)
Everyone has own tradition. And a lot depends on intonation.
My friends and i can say
Он реальный псих (with smile and irony)
    Безбáшенный
if smth like 'he's crazy about football' - он помешан на футболе)

    It's чОкнутый

    Thank you Kolbaskina and Vuoklis

Я помешан на футболе! (только Американском футболе )

Vuoklis, about 1 or 2 weeks ago, El raisa (I think) said that she has a friend who can't read very fast. So El raisa has to type v...e...r...y s...l...o...w...l...y for her friend

We don't talk about age, and we also don't talk about gray hair!!

ok, jandros, i'll find something else to talk about

about typing: well, i concider myself a HERO - i managed to memorise the layout of russian letters on my laptops keyboard. i don't actually need to type fast in order to feel even better

я вообще не понимаю американского футбола (да и не очень-то хочется), так что для меня быть помешаным на такой игре - почти что екзотика

soccer (that's what we call it here) is much easier to understand. All you do is try to get the ball in the net. In football there are 3/4 different ways to score (that I know of).
