don't forget
the clear daylight
in this dark
When two poems have been posted more or less simultanously with the same starting line, I try to combine themThat way both threads get picked up and woven into this neverending story.

I'm slipping more and more into that, too; I used to focus on one thing at a time for hours and hours. These days, I do better if I do at least two things simultaneously, and I think it's due to more stress, lower stress tolerance and overall poorer concentration. For instance, I listen to audiobooks and various interesting talks (a lot of Christopher Hitchens lately, Michio Kaku, Stephen Fry, a few dozen TED talks etc.) while playing strategy games. Somehow it's easier than simply listening. The other day, I listened through Ender's Game in a single day while finishing several rounds of Heroes of Might & Magic III. That didn't use to be the case... I'm getting old![]()
Are you guys implying that I have an old soul? I'll have you know I'm watching How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days for the 600th time. Tis the season to be jolly![]()
...more like 'tis the season to be silly![]()

Viva & O.I: don't worry: I was reading Maigret (in French), cooking and thinking of the next haiku as well![]()
I hope there's a woman involved, amaryn; I say, never cook unless there's a woman involved!![]()
In this dark

And they lived happily ever after. Next.
Out of curiosity, what does a womanless man live off?
Müsli, fruits and salads. I suppose the well-to-do ones eat out.

may we rest in hell
Those haiku are making me laugh. My ego is feeling bruised. I thought I was funny.
The Japanese ones? A truly superb sense of humour, I've been chuckling at them as wellI mean, how do you compose something like this:
Letting rip a fart -
It doesn't make you laugh
When you live alone.
—Anon. senryu
[Ibid., p. 137]
All of them. Do I have to like study humour or something to come up with something like that?
"She may have only one eye
But it's a pretty one,"
Says the go-between.—Anon. senryu
[Ibid., p. 134]
See, if I wrote this, I would think I was being silly. But it made me laugh.
Picking up the grapes
So gently,
She asks the price.—Anon. senryu
[Ibid., p. 21]
They probably spent months thinking up every single one. Not writing fifteen a night like someReading lots ought to help, generally speaking.
