Sorry folksies but I've been sick as a dog, and no not like a wolf, more like a mangy scraggly mutt lying in a back-alley, pulling cardboard up over me to hide from all the ... flying grenades and alien veggies and altered-egos trying to kill each other?? ..... after 3-4 days away I'm so confused, so many disembodied voices that I don't even know who to trust anymore, and I don't even know who or what I am ....... Hi guys! (That includes everyone) We've been having really bad storms/tornados/flooding for nearly three weeks (with more to come), so I've been out of the loop. Problems with electricity, internet, home phone service, cell phone service, cable, satellite services . . . I glanced through your recent discussion briefly, but it's just not the same as "being there" if you understand what I mean!

@ Olivia = ShadowLeeSharp: Thanks for your post. As far as weather, I'm not really brave and certainly don't deserve an award--well, maybe for different year:

Winter 2009-2010. Very scary, hideous but sometimes beautiful storms. So weird was the weather that we called one phase of it "thundersnow" (a word made up by my friend). "Thundersnow" was a first experience for me and just about everyone; snow was on the ground . . . snow was falling . . . and terrible thunder, lightning, and winds at the same time! (Very strange, indeed!) . . . Around those same weeks we had freezing rain on top of the snow, making trees, bushes, grass, and everything glisten beautifully--very "Edward-Scissorhandsy." But, following soon after the ice, came horrible winds. All night long, it seemed, the winds howled; huge tree limbs and even large trees themselves cracked and thumped to the ground making a quivering rumble beneath our feet! For that winter, I think I deserve a medal. Certainly not for this recent (nearly constant) heavy rain, occasional tornados (our house still stands!), and only a few inconveniences. Basically, I'm a chicken--(or prudent, what do you all think??)--making my family run to the basement as soon as a "tornado warning" is made (as opposed to a mere "tornado watch") . . . [Will you all make me leave this site to go to a prose site? or a weather station???]

And--on this I am truly serious: After what our Japanese "neighbors" (and others in places with earthquakes, devastating floods, and tsunamis) have endured . . . They are the ones deserving of medals and everything else others find it in their hearts to give to them.
