    kako se na srpskom kaže:

    photographic memory
EDNOS (Eating disorder not otherwise specified)
to close a matter/topic (and not talk about it anymore)
    to swear to secrecy
    godsend
    CPS (child protective services)
    special education
    caseworker
    poster child
    piggy back ride

I'm stronger than the tricks played on your heart. We look at them together then we take 'em apart. Adding up the total of a love that's true, multiply life by the power of two.

to close a matter/topic (and not talk about it anymore) - staviti kraj na (tu-neku) temu

special education - posebno obrazovanje, specijalizovanje u
    caseworker - socijalni radnik
poster child - dete sa reklame
piggy back ride - radije ćeš naići na izraz koji koristi glagol - zajahati nekoga

to swear to secrecy - - zakleti se na tajnost

And, poster child shouldn't be literally translated as it doesn't have the meaning in Serbian when said just like that and actually I have no idea what would be an equivalent in Serbian

    poster child

(a child afflicted by some disease or deformity whose picture is used on posters to raise money for charitable purposes; "she was the poster child for muscular dystrophy")

    hvala!

@spring: yes...and specifically, poster child has a negative connotation, because you become the image of that problem and stop being a person.

kako se kaže "drop in the bucket"?

We say "drop in the bucket" when something is good, but it's just a small good thing among so much bad that it's just a bagatelle

    *poster child*
I will tell you if I think of an appropriate expression/word though I don't think such stuff is a big issue in Serbia and therefore, I believe we don't have the right word

    *piggy back ride*

A nice sentence (not to confuse this with another nositi na ledjima):

"Deda me nosio na krkače. A sada me tata nosi na grbači"
"My grandpa used to give me piggyback rides. Now I'm my father's burden" (he has no income and lives on his father's expense)

    I suppose it's
    "kap u moru"

But it could be "šlag na torti"

though it can have a positive meaning too

so, if no other words are there to indicate it's a tiny good thing on a pile of bad stuff, you might say "šlag na torti govana" LOL

    Cool, thanks.

I'm not sure šlag na torti has the same meaning, though... that seems like it means something good on top of lots of good things or something small bad on top of lots of other bad things.

A drop in the bucket means... you're starving and you search the woods all day for food, but you only find a handful of strawberries, which are just a drop in the bucket.

It's good you find the strawberries, and they help you, but they don't help nearly enough, because you're still starving.

I think we'd say "to je samo kap u moru.. "

    Example

and what's the antonym (opposite) of devičanstvo?

    + mandatory reporting law?

+ rug burn (a red rash / skin irritation from being dragged across a carpet) (potok od trenja, možda?)

    http://www.urbandictionary.com/defin...erm=rug%20burn

    limbo - sta od ovoga:
    1. a situation in which you are not certain what to do next, cannot take action, etc., especially because you are waiting for sb else to make a decision:
His life seemed stuck in limbo; he could not go forward and he could not go back.
    2. the state of being disregarded or forgotten
    3. (theology) in Roman Catholicism, the place of unbaptized but innocent or righteous souls (such as infants and virtuous individuals)
    4. a West Indian dance

mandatory reporting law of child abuse and neglect, pa ne znam kako se to kod nas kaže....

rug burn ne mora da bude perverzno. Zavisi od kako to dobiješ.

    And about limbo...

    limbo ['limbou] (-s) n
    1. (rel.) predvorje pakla
    2. (fig.) zaborav; to consign to ~ predati zaboravu

The definition of limbo that I was meaning was the one where you're sort in a place between one thing and another, where you're neither one or the other, but in some ways you're both.

Google has 347 results for "u limbu" and 20 for "u limbou"

    oh dear...
I never used the word in my life but - the answer to your question is "limbu"

    googled Example:
Regarding opposite of devičanstvo.. it took me a while to figure out the English antonym for virginity - unchastity

It could be - blud but.. it would be better if you first told me the English word that you have in mind lol

If I could have thought of an English word, I would've known what to look up in the dictionary... I eventually went with zrelost.
