The verbs in Bulgarian have up to 3, 000 (!!!) different forms. This is due to the fact that there are six grammatical categories - person (with three subcategories - 1st, 2nd and 3rd person), number (with two subcategories - sg and pl), aspect (with two subcategories - imperfective and perfective aspect), tense (with nine subcategories - present tense, aorist, imperfect tense, future tense, perfect tense, plu(squam)perfect, future perfect tense, future in the past tense and future perfect in the past tense), voice (with two subcategories - active and passive voice) and mood (with four subcategories - indicative, imperative, conditional and the so called "reported" mood). In addition to that there are five participles (three active participles - present, aorist and imperfect, and two passive participles - present and past) and a few other non-finite verb forms - the verbal adverbs, and the verbal nouns with the suffixes -НЕ, -НИЕ.

When you mentioned Bulgarian verb forms, I remembered a book I once read. It's called "The Bulgarian Chronicles pt.II" by Stefan Tsanev and it basically talks about Bulgarian history throughout the centuries. There was a chapter about our language where the author talks about the craziness of our grammar and verbs. The following is a quote from the book, where he explaines some different ways of conjugating the verb "to drink" in different tenses, 1st person:

"Като стигнахме до глаголните форми на времената - хвана ме паниката, въпреки че съм българин, а за чужденците това е истински кошмар, защото те имат в езиците си по 4-5-6 глаголни времена, а в българския...
Понеже съм много слаб в дефинициите - кое време и коя форма как се нарича, а и за да не плаша читателя си, пред удивените му очи ще спрегна на екс любимия ни (надявам се) глагол пия (вода, скъпи деца) по следните 10-20 начина:

да пия, да се напия;
пия, напивам се;
пиех, напивах се;
пих, напих се;
ще пия, ще се напия;
щях да пия, щях да се напия;
щях да съм пил, щях да съм се напил;
щял да съм пил, щял съм да съм се напил;
щял съм да пия, щял съм да се напия;
щял съм бил да пия, щял съм бил да се напия;
да съм пил, да съм се напил;
да бях пил, да бях се напил;
пил съм, напил съм се;
бях пил, бях се напил;
ще съм пил, ще съм се напил;
бих пил, бих се напил;
да съм бил пил, да съм се бил напил;
бил съм бил пил, бил съм се бил напил!

Де го този разкош в другите езици? А последният шедьовър „бил съм се бил напил" направо довежда всеки преводач до самоубийство - ще му трябват, горкия, две страници да обяснява за какво става дума... А, наздраве!"
