Learning Persian and common questions

Oh niceyeah there are lots of common words and when I watch some Turkish programmes on Tv I can understand some words

If someone calls you 'bi khasiat' or 'be khasiat' in Persian what does it mean? Does it mean the person is calling u a useless person? Please reply guys

First of al some clarification of pronunciation badly needed:

"chelo kebab" (NAMS): "ch" in English pronounced as e.g. "cheers","chap", "chunk"
or is it like in French: "chomage", "chantage", "chanson"?
or like in German: soft "g": : "Chrom",
or even like in Dutch: hard"g": "lachen"= to laugh

or still different: "chetori" (??), "cheh", "chera"?: how to pronounce them?

Correct pronunciation would be nice to know. Maybe best is to think of English or French??
(You're excused that you don't know Dutch,lol)

Compliments:

and:

"sir/madam, can we have the menu, please"?

In Farsi "ch" (چ) is always pronounced like "che" in English...like >>>cheers/child/charming/charity...

now some help for correct pronunciation:
Ghaza....>>the first "a" is pronounced like "a" in "apple" and the second "a" is pronounced like "a" in art"

"In" is pronounced just like "in " in English!

"aaliye" is pronounced like this : "a" is like "a" in art and the last letter which is "e" should be pronounced like "et" in French...in fact the pronunciation of "ye" in "aliye" is just like saying "yeah" or saying "yes" but without "s"...I hope you're not confused

I guess you know the pronunciation of "kh" like khoob/kheyli...right??
In Farsi "sh"(ش) is pronounced like sh in English...e.x.:Shame/show/shine

"Khosh mazas"=خوش مزس means "it's delicious"..both "a" in "mazas" are pronounced like "a" in apple.

"we look forward to meet you again"=Moshtaaghim shomaa ro baaz bebinim!

"sir/madam, can we have the menu, please"?Aaghaa/Khanoom mishe meno ro bemoon bedin?

"do you have something without meat/ fish?" Ghazaaye bedoone goosht/maahi

"which salads do you have"?=Che saalaadhaayi darin?

"what do you recommend?"Shomaa chi pishnaahaad mikonid?

***For showing the word "a" which you have to pronounce like "a" in art I used" aa"

"with / without meat"=Baa /Bedoone goosht

"which salad", "what meat", which fish"=Koodoom saalaad/Che gooshti /Koodoom maahi

yes it's correct to use "ghazaa" / maahi..in the restaurant...yes you can say "mikhaam" or you can just simply say the name of the food+lotfan
For example:
What would you like to have?
ye chelo kabab lotfan! or ye chelo kabab age momkene(=if possible)

Ok here are some other examples which you can use in a restaurant

When you're not ready to order :
-I'm not ready yet=Hanooz aamaade nistam!=هنوز آماده نیستم!

-I haven't decided yet=Hanooz tasmim nagereftam=هنوز تصمیم نگرفتم

-I haven't chosen yet=Hanooz entekhaab nakardam!=هنوز انتخاب نکردم

*May I know what's your special dish=Momkene bedoonam ghazaaye makhsoose shoma chiye?=ممکنه بدونم غذای مخصوص شما چیه؟

*Sea Food=Ghazaaye daryaayi=غذای دریایی

*Waiter=Gaarson=گارسون >>It's a bit like the French word "garçon"!

*Vegetables=Sabzijaat=سبزیجات

*I'm a vegetarian=Man giyah khaaram!=من گیاه خوارم

*Salad dressing=Sose Saalaad!=سس سالاد

*Olive Oil =Roghan Zeytoon=روغن زیتون

*Vinegar=Serke=سرکه


*May I order=Mitoonam sefaaresh bedam?


*We have chosen our food=Maa ghazaamoono entekhaab kardim!

*May I have the bill=Momkene soorat hesaabo biyaarin?

*I have booked a table=Ye miz rezerv kardam!

*I like my steak rare/medium/welldone=Steakam ro aabdaar/mamooli/bereshte/ mikham!

About "kh": is it pronounced "k" at the start of a word?
How about "kh" in the middle like in "mikham"?

and what about "gh" at beginning or in the middle of a word? How to pronounce these?

First, let's talk about "gh"....whether it's at the beginning or in the middle it's pronounced like "r" in French..for example French words like : rue/ravi/retourner/reflet/rêve:::
and "kh" whether it's at the beginning or in the middle of a word it is pronounced like "r" in French but in words like "quartier/important/trois/notre..

Can you feel the difference?I guess in German you have heard "kh"...In some German words like " Tochter/ Bauch/ Buch"....
now is it clear or should I try harder?

Hey guyssssssssss guess what? I found a good software called "Forvo" ...you can check the pronunciation of so many words in so many languages, even Farsi!!!!!!!!!!!I haven't tried it yet but I thought maybe it can help you with learning Farsi
