I'm not completely sure about the reason why we use subjunctive here, but I think it's because we're expressing a personal opinion/ feeling (Xiurell can probably either confirm this or give us the correct reason).
What I can tell you for sure is that as long as the subject in the second sentence is different from the first, then we need the subjunctive (in the second sentence) irrespectively of the topic we're talking about. And if the subject is the same in both sentences, then we use the infinitive.
For instance:
-Me alegra que te guste (I'm glad you like it)
-Nos entristece que haya perdido su empleo (We're sad he's lost his job)
-A mi hijo le gusta que le lea un cuento antes de dormir (My son likes me to read him a story before going to bed)
