    (or anyone else )

can you please tell me what this means:
    и да jавам ?

    and, is this correct?
Кога свети jако, човек има среќа - When it shines bright, the person is lucky?
or maybe it's "to/for whom it shines bright (a star)..."?

    Helloooo there

About the first one it depends on what "јавам" refers to
We use it like "да јавам"- to call someone on the phone (more informal way)
or "јавам" means I'm riding (on a horse).... so "и да јавам"- would mean- "to call (someone, somewhere) on the phone" or "to ride on a horse" depending on the other meaning of the sentence or discussion.

While for "Кога свети jако, човек има среќа"- the literal translation of this sentence would be the first one you have suggested like-
When it shines bright, the person (or the man) has luck (is lucky).
Again it depends on the whole meaning, or what you want to say with that

    Greetings, xxx

Heyyy! I didn't think you'd hear me screaming
    Среќен Велигден!

Thank you Lydia! I was sure that javam is like Serbian javiti but riding is what I need in the context!
As for the other, it's from a song and I get the first two lines (I hope lol) but then it gets messy

Секоj од нас има своjа sвезда - Each of us have their star
Што го прати дур е жив - Which follows us as long as we live
Кога свети jако, човек има среќа - When it shines bright, the person is lucky
Кога гасне судбина - When destiny fades? (doesn't sound too good)

I've seen that word "звезда" written like that: "ѕвезда" How should be read the second one?
    Eins.. hier kommt die Sonne
    Zwei..hier kommt die Sonne
    Drei.. hier kommt die Sonne
    Vier
    Fünf
    Sechs
    Sieben..

Yea that "s" was poking my eyes so I changed it to звезда lol

I guess it's sвезда but .. I must admit - I never noticed that Macedonian alphabet has the latin s

This is a cool site with the alphabet.. if you click on the letters, you can hear the pronunciation as well:

    the macedonian alphabet - cyrillic

But I heard youuuuuu Благодарам и тебе исто Hristos vaskrse!
You are welcome about the first one about the second I think it is verse from Vlatko Stefanovski's song, right?
The last one "Кога гасне судбина" would mean- when extinguishes (the star probably)(the person has)- destiny...though it is strange a bit, I agree

    Hi everybody!

I am new to the forum and am very happy that I discovered it. It seems people are very friendly here and there is always something interesting to learn.

I am a former professional interpreter/translator and please do not hesitate to ask anything you want to know about Macedonian.

The correct spelling is "ѕвезда". The closest pronunciation is a sharp "дз"/"dz".

It is not Latin but medieval Macedonian, the two letters just happen to coincide. :-)

As far as I know, the only Latin letter is "J, j".
