Sometime in the early 1970s a song was played on the radio with these lyrics:
Ba ba baba baaa ba ba ba ba ba ba ba baaaa
Ba ba baba baaa ba ba ba ba ba ba ba baaaa
The Rocking Chair on the porch outside
Seems like a childish toy to ride
But I'm gonna sit there all day long
Smokin' my pipe and singing this song
Ls la la la Laaaa la la la la la la la laaaaa
Ls la la la Laaaa la la la la la la la laaaaa
Swinging back and forth in my dungarees
Drinkin lemonade in the cool cool breeze
Feelin I'm riding like a millionaire
I'm in my wooden limousine
I mean my rocking chair
Ls la la la Laaaa la la la la la la la laaaaa
Ls la la la Laaaa la la la la la la la laaaaa
The fields need plowin'
The pigs are starvin'
What a lazy man I am
But I just keep rockin'
Like a clock I'm tockin'
Like a chicken cluckin'
Bam bam a bam bam bam
I want to live my life and just sit right here
And do all my travelling in this rocking chair
If you want me in heaven let's make it clear
You can take me but you've gotta my rocking chair
The roof is leaking
The door keeps squeaking
What a lazy man I am
But I just keep rockin'
Like a clock I'm tockin'
Like a chicken cluckin'
Bam bam a bam bam bam
I want to live my life and just sit right here
And do all my travelling in this rocking chair
If you want me in heaven let's make it clear
You take me but you've gotta my rocking chair
Ba ba baba baaa ba ba ba ba ba ba ba baaaa
Ba ba baba baaa ba ba ba ba ba ba ba baaaa
It was sung by a group that sounds a lot to me like the Laurie Bower singers, but I have never been able to find this (on the internet) in any of their repertoire. Perhaps it is another group like Ray Coniff Singers. Any further info on this song would be very much appreciated!
