I think people are masochist, and we like to feel pain... It is the reason that's why we are falling in love with someone who will never be with us for example because of the distance From the same reason a lot of people stay in "sick" realtionships...
Or maybe people like to have something attainable to try to reach it for the rest of life... than we have some goal in our life It sounds stupid but that's my opinion
