    Sen üzülme gülüm incinme
So be not sad my rose, dont be hurt
Canimin içi, iki gözüm, sakin küsme
Core of my life, my two eyes, dont be cross
    Bana hediye birak bütün kederleri
Leave all the pain as a present for me
    Ben aglarim ikimizine yerine
I will cry for the both of us
Yes, you did, but okay. It is a really nice translation (of course.) For example, where it might be 'easier' to say "don't be sad my rose", she translated it as "so be not sad my rose"...very poetic. And "core of my life"....nice. But I thought your favourite word was "hayat".

2 cds I listened to today and basically all the lyrics stood out to me: Kurban's "Sahip" cd and Fiona Apple's "Extraordinary Machine." But here's just a sample

From Kurban- Yobaz // Bigot (With all due respect to other translators, I don't think anyone could translate this album the way Milena did. It's perfect and made me fall in love with these songs more than I thought possible.)

Sen, yobaz! efendinin sağ yanında yerini al // You, bigot! Take your place on right side of your master
Sen, düzenbaz! efendinin sol yanında yerini al // You, trickster! Take your place on left side of your master...
Sen, yobaz! efendine inanmayanın canını al // You, bigot! Kill the one who doesn't believe your master
Sen, düzenbaz! efendinin haramından payını al // You, trickster! Get your share from haram of your master
Ve sen, etme naz! efendinin kucağında yerini al // And you, don't feign reluctance! Take your place in arms of your master

And from Fiona Apple - Red Red Red // Kırmızı Kırmızı Kırmızı

I don't understand about diamonds and why men buy them
What's so impressive about a diamond, except the mining?
But it's dangerous work, trying to get to you too,
And I think if I didn't have to kill myself doing it,
Maybe I wouldn't think so much of you...

    What's happened has happened,
What's coming is already on its way
With a role for me to play
    And I don't understand
    And I'll never understand
    But I'll try to understand.
There's nothing else I can do.

    She kills me.

Oh is that a red fish I see?

Nah hayat is just the only word in songs I can pick up, but my all time favourite turkish endearnment is canimin içi...dont you know that yet?

I really liked those lines when I was listening to her. Very clever and witty.

Hvala. Really glad you think so. For some reason I like translating aggressive lyrics.

Ah, so it wasn't boredom that made you translate that Nihat song...it was the aggressive lyrics. Well, we must all get tired of translating love lines too often.

    Alisan - Yalan Oldu

    Anladım seni ben kaybettim.
    I've realized I've lost you.
    Hani ben bir ömür senindim.
(I thought you said) I was yours for a whole lifetime.
    Hiç mi hiç sevmedin?
Did you never even love (me)?
    Belkide görmedin?
Or maybe you just didn't see it?
Ne olur, ne olur, dön bana.
Please, please, come back to me.

    Yalan oldu, yalan oldu.
It's turned out a lie, it's turned out a lie.
    Dilin bana tuzak oldu.
    Your tongue was a trap

Good one Viva I like Yalan Oldu too.

maNga - Dünyanın sonuna doğmuşum Genius song lyrics.

Naber bak, bende dert yok tasa yok /
whats up look i ve got no problem
Mutluyum artık bir beynim yok /
Im happy now i dont have a brain

    Dikmişim ekrana gözlerimi /
I set my eyes on screen (television)
Başka da bir ihtiyacım yok /
    I dont need anything else
The hours of pain have yielded good,
    Which prosperous days refused;
As herbs, though scentless when entire,
    Spread fragrance when they’re bruised.

sohuda, I'm fond of many lines from that song.

I really really like this song:

    Kurban - Güneş (The Sun)

Güneş var ya, çocuk var, umut var yine // There's the sun so, there's a child, there's hope again
Bulut var ya, silah var, ölüm var yine // There's the clouds so, there's a gun, there's death again
Fikir var ya, çıkar da, çatışma var yine // There're ideas so, there're the interests, too, there're the conflicts again
Kalem var ya, kağıt var, sana mektup var yine // There's a pencil so, a paper, (that means) a letter for you again

Sohuda- Amen to your song. So great. (Mil, I think you should hear that whole album from MaNga sometime, if you haven't already...it's really a lot better than their debut. The instrumental songs are really great...ney is involved. )

    Ehh.....this song..... it's okay, I guess.
Those lines and the way he sings them...oh, speechless. (Is this another example of sanat style?)

Also love these lines from that song:

İman var da inanç yok ceza var sadece // There's faith but there's no belief, there's only punishment

Kan kırmızı bir ağaç var ya Adem bekler tam altında // You know there's a crimson tree, Adam waits right under it
Söz dinlemez bir el var ya Sonu başlatır günahlarla // You know there's a disobedient hand, it starts the end with sins

What about duduk? I'd like that...Just don't ask me "my least favourite song" from that album.

Not really. But I think this is the closest one in Sahip.

Emre Aydın - Kağıt Evler (Paper Houses)

Kağıt evler içinde // In(side) paper houses
Ateş yakmak gibi ısınmak için // Like making a fire to warm up
Sana gelmek böyle işte // This is what it's like to come to you

It's interesting, but not surprising (cos you have good taste), that you choose those lyrics. Actually I was sort-of unimpressed by that song the first couple times I heard it (Kağıt Evler) but these lines made me keep listening to it. It really grew on me. Good choice, again.

Thanks. I think this song is also my least favourite from Kağıt Evler, but his lyrics are so special, yani he can even make a normal song better.

That is the magic of Emre Aydın.

Here's someone else I think is magic.

    Redd- 50/50

Mecbur kalınca sevişirim // I make love, when i have to
Pili bitmiş zaman gibiyim // I am like time that has no battery anymore
Ne ileri ne de geri giderim // I go neither to forward nor back

50/50 varsa şansım sebebi yok, doğmuşum belli // If i have chance 50 / 50 , there's no reason, i was born certainly (obviously I'm already alive?)

Thanks Berrytr for this song's translation.

I don't know...just for me, it doesn't stand out, musically or vocally. Lyrics are great, but his lyrics usually are.
But it talks to you in some way, and that's a very good reason.
