    Hi everybody! I have a suggestion: there are interesting persian sayings/set expressions (already with exact translations). But it’s absolutely impossible to understand what they mean and in what situations you guys use them! So may I ask for some comments Thanks

    Yek dast seda nadareh : Union is strength

    Yek kalagh, chehel kalagh : exaggeration

    Delam kabab shod : I felt pity (for him)

    Chosdamagh : grouchy (insulting)

    Delam shoor mizaneh! : I am anxious or uneasy (about it)

    I'm so happy that you love them. We use "Delesh khoshe" a lot, especially in a situation that someone doesn't care about any pains and sorrows in this world. We use it also for someone who is idealistic and doesn't see the reality.

    And ba Namak means cute? Namak doesn't mean salt?

    Yes, it is rude to say to someone older than you : "Mikhastam bebinam foozoolam kieh", but 'shotor didi nadidi' is not rude but informal, and 'namak' means 'salt' but 'banamak' means cute! You wouldn't say your food is 'banamk' to mean it is 'salty', instead you would say it is 'shoor'.
