Yes seriously ,اعدم( means to execute ,to put to death)and of course it has the same sense as killing sm

If u want to be very accurate the verb to kill in Classical arabic قتل=qatala

but usually this word is not meant to said it seriously ..most of those who say that do not mean it
its just a saying ...for example

i would kill my lover just to make you believe me
or
do i kill my lover so you believe me ...


So ...its not meant to be serious with its exact meaning i suppose
but after all it depends on the rest of the sentence where this word has been used
and the situation of-curse other than that we cant figure out ifs said or meant to be serious or just by the matter of the situation.
