    Default Translated: NOSOWSKA - Keskese

    Artist: Nosowska
    Song: Keskese^
    Music: Andrzej Smolik
    Lyrics: Katarzyna Nosowska
    Album: Sushi (2000)

Dedicated to: PlainChaos as a smallish reciprocity for all the beautiful translations she provided me with

    Żadnych łez i żadnej żałoby.
(I want) No tears and no mourning.

    Wszystkich chcę widzieć w czerwieni.
I want to see everybody (dressed) in red.

    Kobiety niech tańczą na stołach,
Let women dance on the tables,

do tanga dziś nie trzeba dwojga.*
It doesn't take two to tango these days.*

    Pragnę też by mnie spalono,
I also wish to be burnt (=cremated)

    bo zawsze się bałam robaków.
'Cos I was always afraid of worms.

    Urna niech będzie nagrodą
Let the urn be a prize

    w jednym z konkursów radiowych.**
In one of the radio contests.**

    Będę jak deszcz,
    I'll be like rain,

    Będę jak śnieg,
    I'll be like snow,

    Będę jak wiatr,
    I'll be like wind,

    Ogień, ziemia.
    Fire, earth.

    Będę jak deszcz,
    I'll be like rain,

    Będę jak śnieg,
    I'll be like snow,

    Będę jak wiatr,
    I'll be like wind,

    Ogień, ziemia.
    Fire, earth.

    Psami szczuj wszystkich ciekawskich,
Set the dogs to all those nosy people,

    takich co w naszym śmietniku,
    Who in our rubbish tip

    będą szukać taniej sensacji,
Will be looking for some cheap sensation

    pośród sterty brudnych odpadków.
Amongst a pile of dirty waste.

    Bliskim mów, gdyby pytali,
Should they ask, tell our dearest and nearest

    że chwilowo zmieniałam adres,
That I temporarily changed the address,

że w niebie leczę duszę z silnego przedawkowania rzeczywistości...
That I'm curing my soul in heaven from a serious overdose of reality...

^The title is a polonized version of the vital French question Qu'est-ce que c'est?

*This line alludes to a popular saying taken from English but also to one of the major Polish pop-rock hits titled "Takie tango" (Such Tango) by Budka Suflera, whose chorus begins with the words: 'Cos it takes two to tango.

**This line sarcastically alludes to some extremely stupid competitions organised by commercial radio stations, in which prizes are given to the listeners for answering some idiotic questions, and where questions like:
    "What's Katarzyna Nosowska's surname?
    A) Wałęsa
    B) Nosowska
    C) Jackson"
    are quite frequent.

Thank you so much Pawel for your meaning-based translation. With the help of your translation, me, as a reader and listener, can sense the spirit of this song.

The music is very interesting too. The composer combines the elements of heavy rock music with alternative rock music and makes a perfect mixture.

Also, the harsh lyrics and the music as a whole make a great union here.

    Thanks Bijan for your comment!

A praise from an Usta tercüman like you is all the more valuable.

Funny thing is that we also have a word "usta" in Polish and it means "mouth", which could also be used perfectly here

I'm not a great fan of Katarzyna Nosowska but I love this song dearly and thus wanted to share it with a wider audience here at ATL.

Thanks again, canIm, for devoting your time to this piece of art!
