Default hungarian song to english (or french) A fényes nap immár elnyugodott

    Hi everyone!

Could someone help me translate this song, in english or french, I don't really care.

    A fényes nap immár elnyugodott
    A föld szine sötétben maradott
    Nappali fény éjjelre változott
    Fáradtaknak nyugodalmat hozott.

    További versszakok (felvételen kívül):

    Minden állat mégy nyugodalomra
    Az Istentől kirendőt álomra
De én Uram úgy megyek ágyamra
    Mintha mennék gyászos koporsómra.

Mert noha most erős és friss vagyok
De több napot magamnak nem hagyok
    Azt gondolom minden nap utolsó
    Ez iccakán köllhet a koporsó.

    Midőn ágynak adom testemet
    Deszka közé zárhatom éltemet
    Hosszas álom érheti szémémet
    A kakas-szó hozhatja végemet.

    Vessünk számot én édes Istenem
    Hogy lelkemet ne kölljön féltenem
    Hogy lehessen bátrabban szólanom
    Midőn meg köll előtted állanom.

    Színed előtt mindennap elesem
    Mert te lettél Atyádnál kezesem
Ha megölsz is még is benned bízom
    Szent véredhez futok ha szomjazom.

    Napkelettől egész napnyugotig
    Szent nevedben bíztam és fáradtig
    De megbocsáss én szívemből szánom
    Könnyek miatt nincs szememen álom.

    Az ágyamban zokogva költözöm
    Vánkosomat könnyekkel öntözöm
    Ha megtartasz holnapi napodra
    Nem fordítom azt megbántásodra.

    Ne szólíts ki Uram készületlen
    Vezess előbb az enyhítő kútra
    Hogy juthassak a mennyei jussra
Úgy bocsáss el engem a nagy útra. Ámen

I just have the tittle and first verse:
The Bright Sun Has Already Set…

The bright sun has already set,
The surface of the earth has remaind in darkness,
The light of the day has changed to night,
And has brought rest to the tired.

    And those 4 sentences:
Let’s give accont, my dear (God, Vessünk számot hát édes istenem)
So that I wouldn’t have to worry about my soul, (Hogy lelkemet ne kelljen féltenem)

And if you keep me for yor next day, (Ha megtartasz holnapi napodra)
I will not turn it against you. (Nem fordítom azt megbántásodra. )

and there is also some changes in lyrics from one singer to another, why is that? like elnyugodott to lenyugodott, sötétben to sötétre, or hát to én...

does that change the meaning a lot?

    thanks!

Hi. Don't worry about the variations, it's a folk song, so they are normal. There are also some language variations depending on th region, for example "kirendőt" is actually a transcription of the regional pronunciation of what you normally spell "kirendelt".
Let's see a quick rough translation:

    További versszakok (felvételen kívül):
    Other verses, not recorded

    Minden állat mégy nyugodalomra
All the animals go to rest
    Az Istentől kirendőt álomra
To take the sleep God ordered them
De én Uram úgy megyek ágyamra
But, my Lord, I go to my bed
    Mintha mennék gyászos koporsómra.
As if I were going into my funereal coffin.

Mert noha most erős és friss vagyok
Because even though now I'm strong and fresh
De több napot magamnak nem hagyok
I don't allow myself any more days
    Azt gondolom minden nap utolsó
I think of every day as the last one
    Ez iccakán köllhet a koporsó.
This night I might need the coffin.

    Midőn ágynak adom testemet
As I give my body over to the bed
    Deszka közé zárhatom éltemet
I might be closing my life between pieces of wood
    Hosszas álom érheti szememet
A long sleep might get my eyes.
    A kakas-szó hozhatja végemet.
The sound of the rooster might bring my end.

    Vessünk számot én édes Istenem
Hogy lelkemet ne kölljön féltenem (you already have these)

    Hogy lehessen bátrabban szólanom
So that I can speak up more bravely
    Midőn meg köll előtted állanom.
When I'll have to stand in front of you.

    Színed előtt mindennap elesem
In front of you I fall every day
    Mert te lettél Atyádnál kezesem
Because you took responsibility for me in front of your Father
Ha megölsz is mégis benned bízom
Even if you should kill me, I will still trust you
    Szent véredhez futok ha szomjazom.
I'll turn to your holy blo.od when I'm thirsty

    Napkelettől egész napnyugotig
From morning (east?) to sunset (west?)
    Szent nevedben bíztam és fáradtig
I've put my trust in your holy name until I grew tired
    De megbocsáss én szívemből szánom
But forgive me, I'm truly sorry
    Könnyek miatt nincs szememen álom.
The tears in my eyes won't let me sleep.

    Az ágyamban zokogva költözöm
I move in my bed crying
    Vánkosomat könnyekkel öntözöm
I wet my pillow with tears
    Ha megtartasz holnapi napodra
If you keep me for your next day (tomorrow)
    Nem fordítom azt megbántásodra.
I won't use it to offend you.

    Ne szólíts ki Uram készületlen
Don't call me, my Lord, unprepared
    Vezess előbb az enyhítő kútra
Lead me first to the soothing well
    Hogy juthassak a mennyei jussra
So I can get my heavenly part (?)
Úgy bocsáss el engem a nagy útra.
That's how I want you to let me go on the great road.

    Substitute "cockerel" or "rooster" for "c o c k"
