Default Ce Lies - Gaelic - Thanks Paul

Thanks to Paul Orhan for finding this beautiful piece of Gaelic music from Maire Brennnan of Clannad

I found a translation to english, can someone post the Gaelic please?

Little how I know your ways
    I'm a fool
Still the fire in my heart
    Never leaves me

    Time past won't disappear
    Memories stay
    Never to die
    My heart will never change

    Ce leis an dolas
    I measc mo dhaoine
    Bimse uaigneach
(Whose is the sorrow among my people
    I feel alone)

Strange now it's too late for me
    By myself
Empty as the days go by
    Without you
    Haunting me

    Movements of a clouded sky
    And it rains
Peaceful is the dark at night
    Full of silence

I have been listening to Gaelic music since high school. My favorite is Mary O'hara, but she doesn't have a lot on youtube.

OMG I found my absolutely favorite song!!! What do you think???

Crochfaidh mé seolta is rachaidh mé siar,
    Óró mo churaichín ó!
'S go hOíche Fhéil' Eoin ní thiocfaidh mé aniar,
    Óró mo bháidín!

    Curfa (Chorus):
    Óró mo churaichín ó!
    Óró mo bháidín,
    Óró mo churaichín ó!
    Óró mo bháidín!

Nach breá í mo bháidín ag snámh ar a' gcuan,
    Óró mo churaichín ó,
'S na céaslaí á dtarraingt go láidir 's go buan,
    Óró mo bháidín.

    (Chorus)

Nach lúfar í ag iomramh soir agus siar,
    Óró mo churaichín ó,
'S a sárú ní bhfaighidh tú ó Árainn go Cliar,
    Óró mo bháidín.

    (Chorus)

This is a slightly different version, but at least it has a translation.

    Lyrics: English Translation:

Óró mo bháidín /Oh my little boat
Ag snámh ar a'gcuan /As she glides in the bay
Óró mo bháidín /Oh my little boat
Faighimis na maidi /Let's get the sticks
Agus téimis chun siuil /And we'll row on
Óró mo bháidín /Oh my little boat
Óró mo churaichín ó /Oh my little curragh
Óró mo bháidín /Oh my little boat

Crochfaidh mé seolta /I will raise the sails
Is rachaidh mé siar /And I will go west
Óró mo bháidín /Oh my little boat
'S go hOíche Fhéil' Eoin /And until St. John's night
Ní thiocfaidh mé aniar /I will not return
Óró mo bháidín /Oh my little boat
Óró mo churaichín ó /Oh my little curragh
Óró mo bháidín /Oh my little boat

Óró mo bháidín /Oh my little boat
Ag snámh ar a'gcuan /As she glides in the bay
Óró mo bháidín /Oh my little boat
Faighimis na maidi /Let's get the sticks
Agus téimis chun siuil /And we'll row on
Óró mo bháidín /Oh my little boat
Óró mo churaichín ó /Oh my little curragh
Óró mo bháidín /Oh my little boat

Óró mo churaichín ó /Oh my little curragh
Óró mo bháidín /Oh my little boat

    Steve,

My pleasure! I'm happy you liked it! It remains my no. 1 among all Clannad/Brennan songs! And it's been almost 30 years that I've been listening to this music!

I'm afraid there are no gaelic lyrics to "Ce Leis" as this song was originally written in English (with the exception of the background vocals done by Brennan sisters that are sung in Gaelic) but perhaps some nice Irishwoman/Irishman would do the translation to Gaelic instaed

Mary O'Hara's song is very noble and you know that harp will always mellow my heart - thanks!

The song below is absolutely Gaelic, though!

Máire (Moya) Brennan - Óró - "Márie" (1992)

This song was written as a lullaby for her daughter Aisling, who is on the cover of the CD here with her mother. The photograph was taken by Maire's husband Tim Jarvis, who had worked as a photographer.

He He if I tell you how long I've known Mary O'hara, it would tell you how old I am.

On a side note about Mary, I thought she was long gone, but a few years ago, I found her website. She is still with us! It is put up by her husband.

I still can't find the Emoticons. Kmmy told me to look under Go Advanced but it only shows me the Emoticons to post on the heading of the message.

    1. Well, as far as your age is concerned you've already given me some hints, haven't you?

    2. Thanks for the links to Mary!

    3. SMILIES
If you go advanced the smilies should appear on the right side of the message field - if they don't it might mean you disallowed smilies in your posts. Go slightly down in the advanced mode and check if you disabled smilies in text. Tick that off if you disabled. If still nothing appears on the right side then go to "settings"/"general settings"/"Miscellaneous Options" and there tick the option "Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing". After that you should see the smilies
