Default Thumb Tripping -- Can anyone identify this song?

I am new to this forum and would appreciate help finding out more about this song. It would have played on the radio in the early 1970s (at least in Canada). The lyrics are:

Wait another day and then I'm on the road
    Nearly time to go home
Two long years marching down a highway
Never had a reason to go
Makes a guy weary and not too cheery
Walkin in the drizzle and rain
You think you hear a dog growling over your shoulder
But it's just your empty belly again

Thumb Trippin -- is one way to see the world
Thumb Trippin -- but I can't forget you girl
Blowin' my mind walking to the sun, but the moon seems further to me
Thumb Trippin my way back girl
Back to where I wanna be

Was it just a day at least it seems that way
    You and I said goodbye
Two long years marching down a highway
    Never really figured out why
My eyes all teary and they all look dreary
The sky's turn black once again
I hear the damn dog barking under my jacket
Guess my stomach finally went insane

Thumb Trippin -- is one way to see the world
Thumb Trippin -- but I can't forget you girl
Blowin' my mind walking to the sun, but the moon seems further to me
Thumb Trippin my way back girl
Back to where I wanna be

Anyone know who sang this song and what its titie is?

Friends Of Distinction - Thumb Tripping

    Jack Hennig - Thumb Trippin'

"Jack Hennig was one of the more prominent country singers living in Edmonton, Alberta in the 70s."

There are 2 songs by Jack on the link below so you can hear his voice...

My guess is, you are looking for Jack Hennig. He was part of the group 'Jack Hennig & The Breaking Point'

I have a friend in Canada that may have 'Thumb Trippin' by Jack Henning. I'll send him an email.

Thanks a lot -- a very fast reply. I listened to the Jack Hennig clips on the website -- could be him, though it is a bit hard to tell from the recording. It is most likely a Canadian singer due to the Canadian content rules that came in in the early 1970s. It would be great if I could get a copy of this song.

    thanks
    again

    Hi Robb,

Unfortunately, Vic does not have the album any more.

    Artist: Jack Hennig

    Song: Thumb Trippin'

    Album: Jack Hennig Sings

    Year: 1973

I don't see the album for sale but the 45 record is for sale.

    I found 1 45 for sale at www.gemm.com

If you would be willing to purchase the record, Vic Ferri (lives in Canada) can transfer the music to CD & remove and pops & clicks. He has been doing vinyl conversions for many years and has a huge collection of music.
